Istituto Marangoni Milano has formed a partnership with primary packaging manufacturer Baralan to bring commercial packaging design into its beauty and fragrance curricula, the institution said in a press release shared with FashionUnited. The school described the arrangement as its first exclusive alliance with a dedicated cosmetic packaging supplier.
How the Baralan Coursework Reaches Students
The collaboration began in the 2025–2026 academic year within the Master in Marketing & Communication for Fragrances & Cosmetics. It now extends to third-year undergraduates in the Bachelor in Fragrances & Cosmetics Product & Communication program as part of their Packaging Design coursework.
Under the agreement, Baralan's technical and development teams will lead lectures, industry case analyses and structured mentoring sessions. Students will work against a client brief written by the packaging manufacturer, designing primary packaging solutions that weigh design aesthetics against manufacturing feasibility, sustainability criteria and commercial cost factors.
The project will culminate in 2027, when Baralan marks its 65th anniversary. Select student concepts will then be recognized with professional development and training opportunities supported by the manufacturer.
Istituto Marangoni operates 10 global sites and reports a 91 percent graduate employability rate, according to the press release. The institution said the partnership strengthens its specialized beauty vertical as packaging sustainability regulations and technical agility reshape hiring criteria at luxury beauty groups.
Istituto Marangoni's Other Industry Partnerships
According to akta.pro company records, Istituto Marangoni formed a flagship strategic partnership with L'Oréal Italia in March 2026 to launch a three-year undergraduate beauty education program covering hair design, makeup art and brand management, starting October 2026, with access to the L'Oréal Italia Academy facilities and salon network. In January 2026 the school partnered with the Italian Embassy in London on the logo and brand identity for Casa Italia, executed by student Jamilya Orak. The same records list a 2025 partnership with Vogue Italia on a talent contest for the Firenze School offering scholarships of up to €15,000 for three-year courses.
Recent Campus and Program Moves
In October 2026, Istituto Marangoni Milano Design opened a campus at Via Verri 4 in Milan's Luxury District with more than 500 square metres of laboratories and an Advanced Design Research Centre, EIN Presswire reported. Earlier that month, FashionUnited reported that the school expanded its Riyadh campus with full undergraduate and postgraduate programs, announced by Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Farhan Al Saud. In September 2026, Istituto Marangoni Paris partnered with Plug and Play on an AI entrepreneurship programme running from August to September 2026, FashionUnited reported.
