By ·

Key takeaways

  • Envision's green ammonia bunkered the Terra Clove, the world's first Very Large Ammonia Carrier with dual-fuel ammonia propulsion.
  • The fuel comes from Envision's Chifeng park in Inner Mongolia, which produces 320,000 tons of green ammonia annually against planned capacity of 1.52 million tons.
  • The Terra Clove is owned by Eastern Pacific Shipping and was built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, with naming held in South Korea.

Envision supplied its green ammonia to bunker the Terra Clove, the world's first Very Large Ammonia Carrier with dual-fuel ammonia propulsion, the company said in a PR Newswire announcement on November 3, 2026. The vessel is owned by Eastern Pacific Shipping and was built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

How the Terra Clove Bunkering Worked

The Terra Clove was recently named at a ceremony in South Korea. The vessel runs on an ammonia dual-fuel Everllence engine and can still use conventional marine fuel, while operating on green ammonia to achieve lifecycle greenhouse gas emission reductions, according to the announcement.

The fuel originates from Envision's Chifeng Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia, which produces 320,000 tons of green ammonia annually, with total planned capacity of 1.52 million tons. The Chifeng facility is certified by Bureau Veritas to ISO standards, and the green ammonia complies with RFNBO and ISCC requirements.

"Building on our first shipment to LOTTE Fine Chemical in February, this bunkering marks a historic milestone: we have officially connected the entire green ammonia value chain—from production to marine application to a larger scale," said Frank Yu, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy. "The deployment to this first-in-kind VLAC powered by the ammonia dual-fuel Everllence engine is a breakthrough, confirming that green ammonia is a viable, scalable marine fuel today."

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, builds LNG tankers and other ocean vessels, with LNG freight demand driving record profits, FAZ.NET reported on October 18, 2026.

Envision's Earlier Green Fuel and Power Milestones

Envision's first commercial green ammonia shipment came in February 2026, delivered from Chifeng to LOTTE Fine Chemical at Ulsan Port in South Korea, PR Newswire reported. Envision applied its Sustainable Aviation Fuel certificate solution internationally for the first time at Global Citizen NOW: Perth, providing environmental attributes corresponding to 10 tonnes of CO₂ emissions reductions, PR Newswire reported on October 29, 2026.

On August 14, 2026, the world's largest wind-solar co-located system commenced operations on the Loess Plateau in northwest China, Balkan Green Energy News reported.

Envision's Next Steps After the Bunkering

Envision Group plans to complete its Galaxy Campus data center in Inner Mongolia by the end of 2028, with capacity reaching 3 gigawatts, Bloomberg reported on October 30, 2026. The company has lined up offtake agreements through 2029 or 2030, citing strong demand in the Chinese market.
