Multiconsult's Profit Squeeze and Order Growth
Multiconsult is a Norwegian engineering, architecture and consultancy group founded in 1908, with more than 4,000 employees working on projects in over 45 countries, according to company records. EBITA in the quarter equalled a margin of 0.5 per cent, down from 5.2 per cent, and adjusted EBITA was NOK 45.0 million, a 3.7 per cent margin against 5.6 per cent a year earlier.
The company said EBITA was reduced by NOK 38.3 million in transaction and restructuring costs tied to the merger and internal resources, plus NOK 0.4 million in legal expenses on the Sotra Link project. Restructuring costs of NOK 8.4 million related to profitability measures were not adjusted for in adjusted EBITA. Order intake rose 12.4 per cent to NOK 1,355 million, and the order backlog was NOK 3,823 million.
"Although the third quarter results were not at the level of our long-term ambitions, we saw positive developments towards the end of the period," said interim CEO Kristin Olsson Augestad. Net profit was NOK -20.9 million, and earnings per share were NOK -0.74.
Rejlers Merger Approved by Both General Meetings
Multiconsult and Rejlers announced the plan to create a Nordic multidisciplinary consultancy group on September 7, 2026, and the merger plan was approved by the general meetings in both companies on October 19. "Together, we will create a leading engineering, architecture and consultancy group with nearly 8 000 employees across the Nordics," Augestad said.
Rejlers reported third-quarter sales growth of 3.5 per cent but negative organic growth and weaker margins, citing disruption in the UAE and delayed Norwegian projects, according to TradingView.
Multiconsult's Deal History Before the Merger
Multiconsult completed its acquisition of ViaNova Group on December 3, 2025, consolidating mobility and transport consulting as a first step toward a single combined entity, according to akta.pro company records. In May 2024 the company acquired Petter J. Rasmussen AS to strengthen its building and industrial presence in the Haugesund region, and in late 2023 it acquired T-2 Prosjekt Vest AS to expand multidisciplinary services across Norway and Scandinavia.
Regulatory Approvals Ahead for Multiconsult Rejlers
Multiconsult and Rejlers expect the merger to be completed around year-end 2026 or at the beginning of 2027, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and fulfilment or waiver of the other conditions in the merger plan. "It is business as usual across Multiconsult," Augestad said.
