OMERS and APG have completed a €662m refinancing for Kenter Groendus, the Dutch energy infrastructure platform the two investors jointly own. IPE Real Assets reported the facility was twice oversubscribed.

How the Kenter Groendus Refinancing Was Structured

The debt facility was backed by banks and institutional lenders, according to IPE Real Assets. The funding is intended to accelerate growth across metering, solar, battery storage and electric vehicle charging solutions at the commercial and industrial energy provider.

Kenter Groendus was formed through the merger of two platforms that APG, acting for Dutch pension scheme ABP, and OMERS Infrastructure acquired over four years. The pair first partnered in May 2022 to buy Utrecht-based renewable energy firm Groendus from NPM Capital. In July 2023 they completed a second joint deal to acquire energy metering business Kenter from Alliander Corporate Ventures, then combined both assets into a single commercial and industrial energy transition platform in the Netherlands.

Luca Lupo, senior managing director and head of Europe at OMERS Infrastructure, said: "This refinancing is an important milestone for Kenter Groendus. The strong support from lenders reflects the quality of the business and its long-term role in supporting the energy transition."

Arjan Reinders, head of infrastructure Europe at APG, said: "This refinancing strengthens the company's financial foundation and provides the flexibility to continue investing in solutions that help customers to electrify."

Jean-Pierre van Lieshout, chief financial officer of Kenter Groendus, said: "This refinancing provides Kenter Groendus with a solid foundation to continue supporting our customers in the years ahead."

OMERS Scale Behind the Kenter Groendus Deal

OMERS held $145.2 billion in net assets as at December 31, 2025, according to akta.pro company records. The same records show its 2025 asset mix included 22% infrastructure, 18% private equities and 14% private credit, with 17% of assets allocated to Europe.

OMERS Infrastructure Moves Before the Refinancing

In June 2026, OMERS took part as a co-investor in Dominion Dynamics' $139 million CAD Series A, led by Georgian Capital Partners, Financial Post reported. OMERS also backed the Enstructure acquisition of LOGISTEC's marine terminal division, creating a 62-port, 84-terminal North American port platform, according to akta.pro company records.

In April 2026, OMERS and EQT raised their combined investment in Deutsche Glasfaser to nearly €5 billion to refinance the German fiber operator, whose gross debt exceeded €7 billion, the same records show.
