Inside the Fall River Assistance Event
The Fall River session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Citizens for Citizens, 264 Griffin St. Staff will help customers with energy bills and assistance programs, and the events include information about the new tiered discount rates.
The Tiered Discount Rate Program offers income-eligible customers six levels of discounts, set by factors including household size, gross annual income or participation in a qualifying benefit program. The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities has approved the structure, according to the announcement.
"We're proud to have been the first utility in Massachusetts to propose and implement a tiered income-based discount for electric customers and are now extending that approach to our gas customers," said Bill Malee, chief customer officer at National Grid. "As tiered discounts become available statewide, we'll add an important tool to improve affordability and help make energy bills more manageable for customers who need support most."
National Grid also scheduled a Fall Customer Bill Assistance webinar from noon to 1 p.m. on November 30. Customer advocates will cover resources for winter heating bills, energy use and spending, including the company's 12-month Budget Plan. Customers who cannot attend live can register to receive a recording.
