Sphera announced new Sphera AI capabilities for Supply Chain Risk Management on October 28, 2026, connecting external risk signals to the suppliers, products and operations they threaten. The Chicago company said the tools help teams assess impact and make decisions in minutes rather than days, according to EIN Presswire.
How Sphera AI Traces Supplier Exposure
The capabilities are aimed at supply chain and procurement teams that must trace a disruption through suppliers, shipping routes, raw materials or trade restrictions to the products and sites affected. Conversational AI features let teams ask questions of their supplier and supply chain risk intelligence in plain language and see which suppliers, products and operations are exposed, without piecing together multiple views by hand. A Model Context Protocol addition lets organizations pull insights from SCRM into compatible AI tools.
Within the Risk Response & Resolution Center, Sphera AI agents assess risk severity and supplier impact to show which risks need a response, cutting manual triage. Sphera research across the US, UK, Germany, France and UAE found 58% of COOs say their most significant disruptions originated at least as much outside their organization as within it, rising to 71% in the UAE. The same research found COOs struggle most with identifying which suppliers or products are exposed (33%), deciding on the right mitigation (30%) and quantifying the business impact (29%).
"The boundary of the enterprise is no longer the boundary of operational risk," said Paul Marushka, CEO and president of Sphera. "A disruption can begin with a supplier, a critical material or an event on the other side of the world, but its consequences are felt inside the business."
Sphera's AI Roadmap and Customer Base
According to akta.pro company records, Sphera appointed Chris Gutheil as Chief Technology Officer in February 2026 to accelerate AI-driven product innovation, reduce customer time-to-value and lead the multi-year product roadmap. The same records show Sphera launched Sphera AI in December 2025 as a generally available intelligence layer for predictive risk insights, generative supplier summaries and process automation. Sphera serves more than 8,400 customers across more than 100 countries, the records show.
Earlier Sphera AI Launches
Sphera launched AI-based sustainability tools in October 2026 to link sustainability data to operational and investment decisions, with a second product for product footprint data, Cfotech reported. In September 2026, Sphera said it would present AI-powered sustainability capabilities at Climate Week NYC 2026, shifting focus from reporting to proving business value. Sphera was named a leader in Verdantix's 2026 Green Quadrant for Process Safety Management Software in June 2026, its third consecutive placement in the leader category, Channellife reported.
Sphera's Supply Chain Research
Sphera's research surveyed 750 COOs, and every one identified at least one risk-management activity they would let AI progress automatically, provided the right rules and controls were in place. The company's website describes its platform as unifying risk, safety and sustainability insights.
