Podium's AI Agent Bet and the $150 Million Mark
Podium rebuilt its software around AI agents that answer calls, respond to leads, book appointments, follow up with customers and act on revenue opportunities. The company made the company-wide bet three years ago, targeting automotive, home services, aesthetics and health businesses.
"We effectively started a second startup inside an already successful company. In the age of AI, you can either disrupt your own company or wait for somebody else to do it. I'd rather do it ourselves," said Eric Rea, CEO of Podium.
Podium is building business software around those agents. For HVAC, plumbing, electrical and garage door contractors, it offers an AI-native field service management system for scheduling jobs and dispatching technicians. In aesthetics, its electronic medical record system helps practices manage patients and book treatments. In automotive, agents help dealerships turn leads into test drives and service appointments.
More than 20,000 Podium AI agents are deployed, and they have helped the company's customers generate more than $13 billion in revenue.
