Maxsun Readies Two MoDT Motherboards for NAS Builds With Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake

By ·

Key takeaways

  • Maxsun's SK-PTLNAS board supports Panther Lake chips up to the Core Ultra 9 386H with 16 CPU cores and 4 Xe3 iGPU cores.
  • The SK-PTLNAS carries two SO-DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of DDR5-7200 memory and five M.2 SSD slots.
  • The SK-WCLAIO board pairs a Core 7 350 with up to 48 GB of DDR5-6400 and 1 TB of onboard UFS 3.1 storage.
  • Maxsun has not disclosed prices for either board, and the launch is happening this month.

Maxsun is preparing two MoDT motherboards for NAS builds, one built around Intel Panther Lake and one around Wildcat Lake, with the Panther Lake board supporting up to 128 GB of DDR5-7200 memory. Wccftech reported that Maxsun has not disclosed prices and that the launch is happening this month.

Maxsun's Two NAS Boards and Their Specs

Maxsun showed the first Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake MoDT designs at Computex 2026, aimed at the NAS market, and has now shared more detail on both products. The higher-end SK-PTLNAS takes Panther Lake "Core Ultra Series 3" SoCs in up to 4+8+4 configurations, up to the Core Ultra 9 386H, which has 16 CPU cores and 4 Xe3 iGPU cores. That chip runs at a 25 W base power and scales to 80 W, fed by an 8-pin CPU and 24-pin ATX connector on a white PCB with a 6+4 VRM.

The SK-PTLNAS carries two SO-DIMM slots for DDR5 up to 128 GB at 7200 MT/s, a full-length PCIe Gen5 x8 slot, five M.2 SSD slots and three Mini SAS (SFF-8643) ports. Networking includes dual 1GbE, a single 2.5GbE and a 10 GbE LAN port, and the board lists Windows 11 and Ubuntu support at 244 × 244 mm.

The SK-WCLAIO has moved to a 90x165mm form factor and supports Intel's Core 7 350, a 6-core part in a 2 P-Core and 4 LPE-Core layout with 2 Xe3 iGPU cores, 15 W base power and 35 W maximum turbo power. It has a single SO-DIMM slot for up to 48 GB at 6400 MT/s, 1 TB of onboard UFS 3.1 at up to 850 MB/s, four M.2 M-Key ports, dual Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports and a 10GbE RJ45 port, powered by a 12V DC Jack with a maximum supported TDP of 28W.

Maxsun demonstrated a Z890 Mini-ITX workstation at Intel Connection 2026 that uses MCIO connectors to separate the graphics card from the motherboard, placing them on opposite sides of a Cooler Master chassis, TechRadar reported.

Intel's Foundry Pipeline and Investment Record

According to akta.pro company records, Intel raised its Intel Foundry order pipeline to $15 billion, with Microsoft confirmed as a custom chip customer and Google selected for half of TPU production through 2028 on the $55 billion Terafab project. The same records show NVIDIA completed a $5 billion private placement in Intel on December 26, 2025, acquiring 214,776,632 shares at $23.28 per share and committing to co-develop PC and data center processors.

Intel's Recent Chip and Capacity Moves

Intel is reallocating CPU manufacturing capacity from client PCs to data centers to meet AI demand, reducing Panther Lake production at its Oregon fab, Business Today reported in November 2026. Tom's Hardware reported the same month that Intel's Nova Lake CPUs will require new motherboards with the LGA 1954 socket, with mass production expected in Q4 2026 and launch in Q1 2027. Wccftech also reported in November 2026 that Intel's Nova Lake-H mobile chip was leaked with a six-tile design, including Compute, Graphics, Hub/SoC and Peripheral Controller tiles.
