YouVersion said daily use of its Bible App grew more than 13% from 2025 to 18.5 million people, as the ministry opened its second Global Bible Month in November. Yahoo reported the figures from founder and chief executive Bobby Gruenewald.

Inside YouVersion's Second Global Bible Month

YouVersion, the creator of the YouVersion Bible App, started Global Bible Month in November 2025, when it marked one billion installs. The ministry added more than 160 million new installs across its family of apps in 2026. Gruenewald said daily engagement grew faster than installs, which he described as a sign that people return to the app rather than only downloading it.

"The first one really did exceed our expectations," Gruenewald said. He said the event began partly because the ministry wanted to celebrate the Bible rather than its own install milestone, and it asked people to read the Bible for 30 days.

Three million people completed the 30-day Bible challenge, and hundreds of YouVersion partners created 30-day Bible plans, Gruenewald said. YouVersion is working with BibleProject, 24-7 Prayer and "The Chosen" on the month. The ministry appeared in Times Square in New York to open this year's event and said it would also be highlighted at Piccadilly Circus in London and the Dotonbori District in Osaka, Japan. Retailers including Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Mardel are emphasizing Bibles during the month.

YouVersion's Reach Across Apps and Languages

According to akta.pro company records, YouVersion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit digital ministry of Life.Church, founded in 2008 and based in Edmond, with 51 to 100 employees and funding entirely from donor contributions. The same records list more than 1 billion installs across the Bible App, Bible App Lite and Bible App for Kids, spanning more than 2,400 languages, and 17.5 million or more daily users in 2026, with Easter 2026 reaching a record 21.6 million users.

Earlier YouVersion Growth and Partnerships

In October 2026, YouVersion reported 18.5 million daily Bible app users, up over 13% from 2025, with more than 160 million new installs, and said the most-searched terms were anxiety, hope and healing, with Psalm 91 ranking highest, PR Newswire reported. In July 2026, Gruenewald told Christian Daily International that even the best AI models misquote Scripture between 15% and 60% of the time, which led YouVersion to decline launching a public-facing AI chatbot for theological questions. In June 2026, Gloo and YouVersion announced a global developer competition running July 6-31, 2026, on Kaggle to build Scripture-based applications using the YouVersion Platform and Gloo AI Studio, FinancialContent Business Page reported.

What Comes After Global Bible Month

Gruenewald said YouVersion will hold Global Bible Month again next year. "We are doing it this year and we're going to do it next year because we've really seen really positive momentum come through," he said.
