Billington Holdings has warned that underlying pre-tax profit for the year is now expected to be between £4m and £5.5m, down from the £8.3m analysts had expected, a reduction of as much as half. Building reported the warning on November 6, 2026.
Inside Billington's Profit Warning
Billington Holdings is a UK structural steel contractor based in Barnsley that designs, fabricates and installs steelwork and supplies site safety products for construction, infrastructure, energy, defence and technology clients. The company said a review of jobs found that profit booked in for this year might not be recognised in 2026.
The downgrade is driven by a material margin reduction on an industrial contract and client-led delays to a bridge contract at its Tubecon business, which is now expected to contribute in 2027. Billington said a final determination on whether certain contract profits can be recognised will be made after the year end, and that the final outturn may be at the higher end of the range.
"Whilst the Board is disappointed by the reduction in expected profitability for the current financial year, it believes that the matters giving rise to the revision are contract specific," the company said. Billington added that it had won £120m of jobs during the year and "remains well positioned in those sectors where demand is strong and continues to have a substantial pipeline of further opportunities".
Billington's Contract Awards and Leadership Moves
