TrueML Products introduced Penelope, a voice AI agent for debt collection focused on inbound calls, on November 6, 2026. The company said testing showed Penelope completed caller verification and routing without escalation in 98% of calls on its initial workflow, and cut authentication time by over 50%. Aijourn carried the announcement.

How Penelope Handles Inbound Collection Calls

Penelope is a specialized agentic model built into TrueML's suite of debt collection products, rather than a standalone tool. The company said the agent gives callers immediate support while human agents concentrate on the most complex customer conversations. Penelope is currently focused on inbound call performance, speed and compliance controls, and future extensions will bring the same capabilities to outbound calling.

The company lists four benefits for an inbound call handled by Penelope. Callers authenticate faster and reach the right representative in over 50% less time in testing. Built-in compliance controls safeguard consumer data while following collection workflows. The agent provides immediate pick-up, rapid query lookups, personalization and routing of opt-outs directly to customer support teams. Deployment runs through a structured pilot-to-production phased rollout intended to reduce operational risk.

TrueML said Penelope operates within configurable guardrails designed to support client compliance with the FDCPA, Regulation F and TCPA call-handling requirements. The agent identifies itself clearly as an AI agent and delivers conversational interactions. "Consumers expect personalized, on-demand experiences when working with their financial services providers," the company said in the announcement, adding that delivering convenience and personalization at scale has historically been challenging in debt collection.

TrueML's Patent and Funding Record

TrueML received U.S. Patent No. 12,266,012 in April 2025 covering the Heartbeat Applied Essentia Dunning machine learning engine, extending core IP protection into a fourth patent family, according to akta.pro company records. The company filed a new patent application, US 2025/0200651 A1, in February 2025 covering next-generation Heartbeat machine learning capabilities. The same records list 11 funding rounds, including a $49.1 million round in June 2022 and a $36.4 million round in April 2020, for total funding of $137.4 million at Series B stage.

Penelope's Pilot-to-Production Rollout

TrueML said Penelope deploys through a structured pilot-to-production phased rollout, with additional enhanced features planned. The company said future extensions will extend the agent's inbound benefits to outbound calling. More information on TrueML's debt collection products is available on the company's website.
