Alfa Laval has entered a definitive agreement to acquire NAVTOR AS for $700 million in an all-cash transaction, the Swedish industrial group said in a PR Newswire announcement on November 6, 2026. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Alfa Laval's $700 Million NAVTOR Purchase

Alfa Laval is a Sweden-based industrial technology group founded in 1883 that designs and services heat transfer, separation and fluid handling equipment for food, pharma, marine, energy and water customers. NAVTOR is a Norwegian software platform for e-navigation, vessel-performance solutions and onboard integrated workflows, founded in 2011.

The purchase price is $700 million, equivalent to 6.85 billion Swedish kronor. Alfa Laval said the deal will be funded through a combination of its own cash and existing funding programs and will be neutral to the group margin in the short term. NAVTOR will become part of the Ocean Division, and its platform will be consolidated with the StormGeo and PortChain platforms already in Alfa Laval's digital fleet portfolio.

"With this acquisition, Alfa Laval will expand its digital offering at a time when real-time decision-making is increasingly complex," said Tom Erixon, President and CEO of Alfa Laval. "NAVTOR's technology and strong footprint complement our maritime digital platform and will strengthen the customer offering."

NAVTOR employs 400 people across 13 offices and serves customers in more than 90 countries, with an estimated turnover of approximately $194 million in 2026. The company reported certain compliance matters after an internal review and adopted an enhanced control and compliance program; Alfa Laval said cover for these pre-acquisition liabilities has been deferred. "The enhanced compliance program is a strong step in the right direction to meet Alfa Laval's standards and requirements, and we have confidence that the issues will be resolved," Erixon said.

Alfa Laval's Scale Behind the Deal

According to akta.pro company records, Alfa Laval reported annual sales of SEK 69.6 billion in 2025, up from SEK 52.1 billion in 2022 and approximately SEK 41.5 billion in 2020. The same records list operations in approximately 100 countries and a market capitalization of $23.6 billion as of June 2026.

Alfa Laval's Earlier Marine Moves

Alfa Laval's Marine division supplies valves, pumps and heat exchangers for ship engines and consolidated its marine divisions in 2011, according to a Wikipedia entry cited in the company's news timeline. The company acquired Framo AS in 2014 and StormGeo in 2021, with StormGeo's software saving 2.1 million tonnes of fuel since 2018, the same entry states. In October 2026, Alfa Laval refinanced its revolving credit facility to a EUR 1 billion facility with an initial five-year maturity and an accordion of up to EUR 200 million, news.cision.com reported.

Alfa Laval's November 18 Capital Markets Day

Alfa Laval said it will share further information about the strategic rationale and the transaction at its Capital Markets Day on November 18, 2026.
