Zendesk was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for CRM Customer Engagement Center for the second consecutive year, the company said in a Business Wire announcement on November 5. Zendesk is an AI-first customer and employee service platform serving more than 100,000 brands, according to company records.
Zendesk's Second Straight Leader Placement
The Zendesk announcement centers on its Autonomous Service Workforce, which the company said is powered by the Zendesk Resolution Platform and trained on roughly 20 billion ticket interactions. The system combines AI agents, copilots, knowledge, workflows and human teams in one connected system for customer and employee service.
"Customers remember how a company shows up when they need help," said Shashi Upadhyay, Zendesk President of Product, Engineering and AI. "We're bringing AI and human expertise together, so service teams have the context they need to quickly take action and deliver the right outcome."
Zendesk said customers ran more than 1 million Custom Agent executions in the first seven weeks of launch. Its Voice AI Agents manage spoken phone conversations across 53 languages, and Real-Time Voice Translation supports two-way conversations for live calls.
Jim Davies at Actionary said Zendesk's continued positioning in the Leaders quadrant highlights the speed at which it is translating agentic AI into practical customer service operations. Gartner's Magic Quadrant for the CRM Customer Engagement Center was published November 5 by Pri Rathnayake, Drew Kraus, Francesco Vicchi, Jim Robinson and Devra Struzenberg, according to the announcement.
Zendesk's Agent and Contact Center Rollout
Zendesk launched Zendesk Contact Center as a natively integrated CCaaS solution at $83 per seat per month standalone, built on the May 2025 Local Measure acquisition and bundled with AWS Amazon Connect telephony for the 250 to 1,000 agent enterprise segment, according to akta.pro company records. The same records show Zendesk introduced its Autonomous Service Workforce vision at Relate 2026, including self-improving AI agents, an Agent Builder no-code tool, Voice AI agents in more than 60 languages and outcome-based pricing at approximately $1.50 per verified resolution.
Zendesk completed its acquisition of Forethought, an AI agent platform, in March 2026, integrating self-improving autonomous agents into the Resolution Platform across chat, email and voice channels, the same records show.
Earlier Zendesk AI Launches
Zendesk introduced Employee Service AI Agents and Advanced Action Flows to automate multi-step employee service processes, TecHR reported in October 2026. In the first five weeks of early access, 300 customers ran 6 million workflow executions, saving an estimated 500,000 hours of manual work.
Zendesk launched the Open Service Directory, a public directory of verified customer support endpoints for AI assistants, SecurityBrief Australia reported in October 2026. Participating companies included Betterment and ElevenLabs.
Zendesk appointed Rachita Sundar as Chief Financial Officer effective September 28, 2026, succeeding Julie Swinney, who will become Chief Administrative Officer and executive sponsor of the Employee Service business, MarTech Series reported in September 2026.
