The airline announced the milestone in a PR Newswire release.

Avelo's Five-Year Build at Tweed-New Haven

Avelo Airlines is a low-fare carrier founded in 2021 that flies from smaller airports to leisure destinations. The airline said it now serves 29 nonstop destinations from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), the most in Connecticut, and has dedicated seven aircraft to Connecticut flying, more than 40% of its fleet. Avelo said it has grown to nearly 350 crewmembers in Connecticut, a third of the airline.

Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said: "Five years ago, we took a chance on Tweed-New Haven Airport and on Connecticut travelers, and Connecticut has answered." Tweed-New Haven Airport Authority Chairman Robert Reed said the partnership has fueled growth, with Avelo now offering more nonstop destinations than any other airline in Connecticut. Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce President Garrett Shaheen said Avelo's commitment has set the table for future growth including an extended runway and terminal.

Avelo is marking the anniversary with a promo code, "5YEARS," offering up to 50% off base fares on new itineraries booked at AveloAir.com through March 31, 2027. Travel must be completed between November 8, 2026 and March 31, 2027, with blackout dates including November 25 and 28, 2026, and December 23 and 26, 2026.

Avelo's Connecticut Fleet and Route Numbers

According to akta.pro company records, Avelo has flown more than 9.3 million customers and 74,000 flights since launching in April 2021, and served 34 destinations as of its fifth anniversary in April 2026. The records list total funding of $175.2 million across three rounds, the last a $8.2 million round in January 2025. Avelo's order for up to 100 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, 50 firm orders plus 50 purchase rights, is valued at $4.4 billion at list prices with deliveries from 2028.

Avelo's Route Growth Before the Anniversary

Avelo said in October 2026 that it would add two Florida destinations from McKinney National Airport, starting December 16 with Sarasota/Bradenton and December 17 with West Palm Beach, growing its DTX network to 11 destinations, according to PR Newswire. In September 2026, American City Business Journals reported that Avelo was adding a third jet and four nonstop routes from McKinney, expanding its planned network there to nine destinations. Also in September 2026, Simpleflying reported that Tweed-New Haven Airport will extend its runway by 975 feet and build a new terminal, with construction starting in 2026.

Avelo's Aguadilla Launch Date

Avelo's newest route begins on November 19, 2026, with twice-weekly nonstop service between Tweed-New Haven and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (BQN), operating Thursdays and Sundays. Aguadilla will be Avelo's second Puerto Rico destination, joining San Juan.
