By ·

Key takeaways

  • Ultima Genomics' UG200 Sequencing Platform was selected for the SG-INSIGHT cohort under Phase III of Singapore's National Precision Medicine program.
  • NPM Phase III expands the program to about 450,000 individuals, nearly one in 10 Singapore residents.
  • Ultima will work with Lucence, which leads the consortium, and QIAGEN, which supports sample preparation and automation workflows.

Ultima Genomics' UG200 Sequencing Platform has been selected for the SG-INSIGHT study under Phase III of Singapore's National Precision Medicine program, which plans to sequence about 450,000 individuals, nearly one in 10 Singapore residents. PR Newswire reported the award on November 3, 2026.

Ultima's Role in the SG-INSIGHT Study

Ultima Genomics develops high-throughput, low-cost DNA sequencing instruments built on a silicon-wafer substrate and paired plus-minus chemistry, serving research institutions, clinical labs and population-genomics consortia. The company said the award is its first major win supporting a national-scale clinical whole genome sequencing initiative.

Precision Health Research, Singapore (PRECISE) is the central coordinating office for the NPM program. Phase III includes patients across a wide spectrum of health conditions from Singapore's three public healthcare clusters, NHG Health, the National University Health System and SingHealth, unlike Phase II, which focused on healthy individuals. The program is intended to generate evidence for the safe and effective rollout of genetic screening and future integration of genomics into public healthcare.

Ultima will support the program through a consortium led by Lucence, a Singapore-based clinical lab, with Qiagen supporting sample preparation and automation workflows. Lucence will provide end-to-end clinical program management and local operational leadership, while Ultima supplies sequencing and genomic analysis capabilities. Qiagen agreed to a €9.7 billion cash takeover by a consortium led by EQT XI at €46.50 per share, Yahoo reported on October 31, 2026.

"This award is an important milestone for Ultima Genomics and demonstrates significant advancements to our platform that unlock whole genome sequencing for clinical applications at scale, at low cost, and with high-quality data," said Gilad Almogy, chief executive officer of Ultima Genomics.

Ultima's Sequencing Capacity and Funding

Ultima launched the UG200 Series, comprising the single-wafer UG200 and dual-wafer UG200 Ultra, with Solaris 2.0 workflows in February 2026, according to akta.pro company records. The launch doubled output, halved footprint and priced the UG200 Ultra at $1.25 million, with capacity for more than 60,000 30x whole genomes per year and shipments beginning June 2026. The same records show Ultima has raised more than $700 million in cumulative venture funding, including a $600 million round in May 2022.

Earlier Ultima Partnerships

Ultima and NVIDIA announced a collaboration in September 2026 to integrate pangenome-aware capabilities into whole genome sequencing, using Google's DeepVariant software, Third News reported. In July 2026, BaseClear became the first Ultima Certified Service Provider in Europe, offering sequencing services on the UG200 platform, PR Newswire reported.

Pangenome Analysis Availability

Ultima said its pangenome-aware whole genome sequencing analysis is expected to be available by year-end 2026.
