Allsup said on November 3 that personalized representation remains important for Social Security Disability Insurance applicants as the Social Security Administration expands online and automated phone services. The Belleville, Illinois-based SSDI representation firm said it has helped more than 425,000 people obtain benefits since 1984, according to GlobeNewswire.
Allsup Makes the Case for Human Help
Allsup pointed to SSA's October 23 announcement that the agency completed more than 571 million online transactions in fiscal year 2026, which ran from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, a 30-percent increase from fiscal 2024. SSA also said it shortened the average processing time for initial disability claims by 40 days compared with fiscal 2024 and reduced its backlog of initial disability claims to 911,000 at the end of fiscal 2026.
Steve Perrigo, vice president of sales and marketing at Allsup, said shorter waits and easier online access are welcome for applicants. "But a website can't sit down with you and work out how your condition affects your ability to work, what SSA still needs from you, or what to do when a letter arrives that you don't understand," Perrigo said. "That's where personal representation helps."
Allsup said its representatives help customers build claims, gather supporting medical evidence and respond to SSA requests from the first application through appeals. The company also advised applicants to keep a running list of doctors, hospitals and clinics with dates, record each medicine and who prescribed it, keep copies of everything sent to SSA, open SSA mail promptly and note response deadlines. Applicants generally have 60 days from the date they receive a decision notice to appeal, Allsup said.
Allsup's Scale in Disability Claims
Allsup is a private SSDI representation firm founded in 1984 that helps people with disabilities apply for and appeal Social Security disability benefits, according to akta.pro company records. The same records list a success rate of 97% for customers who complete the SSDI process with Allsup and a customer satisfaction rate of 98%. Allsup is also an approved Employment Network under SSA's Ticket to Work program, providing free return-to-work assistance to SSDI beneficiaries while protecting their benefits.
Earlier Allsup Appeals Push
In June 2026, Allsup highlighted rising SSDI denial rates, citing SSA data showing 61% to 64% denial rates from fiscal 2023 to fiscal 2025, and said 76% of its customers are approved at hearings versus 50% nationally, GlobeNewswire reported. In May 2026, Allsup reported that the top 10 SSA hearing offices had a combined 32,420 pending disability cases. In August 2026, Allsup Veterans Appeals encouraged veterans to review recent VA disability decisions as the agency processed over 2 million claims and cut average decision time to 78.6 days.
