WorkForge unveiled WorkForge Shift, a training and competency platform for food and beverage manufacturers, at the American Food Manufacturing Summit 2027 on November 2, 2026. The Kansas City company announced the launch in a PR Newswire release.
What WorkForge Shift Does for Plant Teams
WorkForge designed Shift to move manufacturers from tracking course completion to confirming that employees can perform critical job functions safely and consistently. The platform combines multilingual training, competency management, skills tracking and supervisor-led validation in a single system.
Shift includes a Content Builder for creating several types of training content and translating it into more than 20 languages. Behavior Checks let supervisors validate skills and produce auditable competency records, while Skill Tracks show workforce qualifications and recertification requirements. Learning Plans automate assigning and renewing training by role, and audit-ready reporting gives access to training, competency and compliance records.
The platform is built for plant leadership, HR and training teams, food safety and quality professionals, operations leaders and frontline employees. WorkForge pointed to average annual turnover of 40% in food manufacturing and the expected retirement of approximately 25% of food plant workers by 2030 as pressures to onboard quickly and preserve institutional knowledge.
"Across the food manufacturing industry, training is too often measured by completion rather than competency," said Laura Dunn Nelson, Vice President of Product Management, Food Safety & Strategic Alliances at WorkForge. "WorkForge Shift gives supervisors a practical way to verify that employees can do the job safely and correctly, and document that competency at scale."
WorkForge's Existing Manufacturing Footprint
According to akta.pro company records, more than 1 million frontline workers have been upskilled through the WorkForge platform, and the company has served over 500 companies with its training solutions. The same records list more than 1,000 Career Pathways courses in its content library. WorkForge partners with the American Bakers Association on training content for baking and snack manufacturing, with the ARM Institute on robotics and automation coursework, and with the Food Production Solutions Association.
