Singareni Collieries Company Ltd has deposited ₹35 crore towards a bypass road between Chandipara and Jarapada villages in Odisha's Angul district, linking coal from its Naini block to the Jarapada railway junction. Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti sought the Angul Collector's support for the road and related projects at a meeting on October 27, The Hindu reported.

Jyoti's Requests to Collector Akhtar

Jyoti met District Collector Mohammad Abdaal Akhtar to discuss land allocation and other support for Singareni's proposed Odisha projects, which include a thermal power plant near the Naini coal mine, a rehabilitation colony for project-affected families and roads for coal transportation. The Collector responded positively and assured necessary support, according to The Hindu.

Singareni asked for land for an R&R colony for the 40 families displaced by the Naini coal mine, and for an early meeting of the Rehabilitation and Periphery Advisory Committee to decide on the R&R package and land acquisition for the colony. For the thermal plant, the company identified land in Tukuda and Jarapada villages and requested help acquiring it. Jyoti also sought land for an Odisha office and staff colony, and support for the Majhika bypass road, assuring funds for land acquisition. The Times of India named the same 40 displaced families and the ₹35 crore deposit.

The Singareni team later visited Jindal's coal gasification plant in Angul district, described as the first such plant in the country, and discussed using coal from Singareni's closed underground mines for gasification.

Singareni's Record on Power Projects

According to akta.pro company records, Singareni signed a joint venture with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited in December 2025 for 2,300 MW of power projects including solar and thermal units, its first expansion into another state's energy infrastructure. The Rajasthan Cabinet approved construction of the 2,300 MW projects that month. The same records list proven geological reserves of 8791 million tonnes across the Godavari Valley Coalfield and coal despatches of 62.07 million tonnes for FY 2025-26.
