Ducati DesertX V2 Engine and Chassis Changes

The DesertX V2 carries an 890cc, 90-degree V-twin in place of the older 937cc Testastretta unit. The new engine is lighter than the previous one and produces a maximum of 110hp and peak torque of 92Nm, tuned for improved torque at lower revs and stronger mid-range performance.

The chassis moves from the older trellis setup to an aluminium monocoque frame. KYB suspension comprises a 46mm fully adjustable upside-down fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, with 230mm and 220mm of travel respectively. Braking uses twin 305mm front discs with Brembo callipers and a 265mm rear disc, and the bike keeps a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel.

Ducati has fitted an electronics suite that includes six riding modes, engine brake control, traction control, cornering ABS and wheelie control. The bike also has cruise control, a 5-inch colour TFT display and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. Ducati teased the model for the Indian market earlier last month, confirming a new engine and a revised chassis.

Ducati's 2024 Sales and Volkswagen Review

Ducati sold approximately 55,000 motorcycles worldwide in 2024 and generated 1 billion euros in revenue that year, according to akta.pro company records. The same records state that Volkswagen Group is reportedly evaluating a divestiture of ultra-luxury brands including Ducati, alongside Lamborghini, under its Audi division to raise capital for restructuring amid Chinese EV competition.
