BNB Chain Says Reth Flaw Has Limited Impact on BSC Nodes, None on opBNB
By News Desk ·
Key takeaways
- BNB Chain said the Reth flaw has limited impact on its BSC Reth nodes and none on opBNB.
- BNB Chain made the BSC Reth v0.1.4 update mandatory for mainnet node operators.
- Pepeto has raised more than $11.2 million for a presale token tied to a planned $0 bridge.
BNB Chain said on November 6 that a flaw in Reth, an Ethereum client, has only limited impact on its BSC Reth nodes and none on opBNB, according to openPR.com. The same release said BNB trades about 49% below its $1,373 record. Pepeto, a presale meme token building a $0 bridge, has drawn more than $11.2 million.
BNB Chain's Reth Fix and the Pepeto Presale
BNB Chain has made its BSC Reth v0.1.4 update mandatory for mainnet node operators. Base found the bug on November 4 and patched its nodes the next day, and Blockaid called it a correctness error with no known losses. LayerZero paused part of its cross-chain service during the patches, according to the release; LayerZero Labs operates that service.
Pepeto sells a meme token in presale and is building a bridge, an exchange and a security scanner. The bridge locks tokens in an audited contract on the first chain and creates them on the second only after the lock proof is checked on chain, with a failed transfer reversing by itself. Pepeto says a crossing costs $0 plus gas across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, Base and Arbitrum in under 60 seconds, against $15 to $50 and hours at other bridges. Every crossing, swap and scan runs on the Pepeto token, of which only 420 trillion will ever exist. Each tool is still in development, with private testing granted to community members and big investors. The token sells for $0.0000001905 at this stage, and each stage ends when its timer runs out or its target is hit, with the next one selling higher.
BNB Chain's Jenner Hardfork and Earlier Upgrades
BNB Chain released the v0.1.4 hotfix for BSC-Reth on November 6, requiring mainnet and testnet operators to upgrade and restart, Crypto Briefing reported. That update aligns with BSC v1.8.2 and precedes the Jenner hardfork on December 8, 2026, and BNB Chain aims to migrate all validators to Reth by end of 2026. On October 29, Cryptopolitan reported that the Jenner hardfork went live on the BSC testnet with three upgrades: Payment Lane reserves 5% of each block's gas for payments, smart contracts can read block time in milliseconds, and CAS20 is built but requires governance activation.
Pepeto's Stage Price and the Binance Listing
The release said the current Pepeto stage price ends at the approaching Binance listing, where later buyers pay whatever the open market asks. BNB Chain's Jenner hardfork is scheduled for December 8, 2026.
