Zeekr Files Updated 001 Sedan for Approval Ahead of Q1 2027 Launch

Zeekr has filed for regulatory approval of an updated 001 sedan, with a launch planned for the first quarter of 2027. Moomoo reported that China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology included the model in its 413th catalog of vehicle models released for public comment on Tuesday. Zeekr is the premium electric vehicle brand of Geely Auto, selling sedans, SUVs and MPVs across more than 50 countries.

Zeekr's Updated 001 Filing Details

The comment period on the updated Zeekr 001 runs from November 4 to November 10. The filing lists a rear motor designated TZ230XYC04 with a maximum output of 370 kW (496 hp) and a top speed of 240 km/h or 280 km/h. The model uses a lithium iron phosphate battery with cells supplied by Geely's Energee, and the filing gives no further battery details.

The updated 001 is expected to feature Geely Smart Charging technology for faster charging. Geely unveiled the technology in September, saying tests showed the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 equipped with the Shendun Golden Battery could charge from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. The current Zeekr 001 went on sale on October 11, 2025, with an official starting price of 269,800 yuan ($40,160), and can charge from 10% to 80% in 7 minutes.

The updated model measures 4,977 mm or 5,029 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,545 mm or 1,533 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm and a curb weight of 2,350 kg or 2,420 kg. Zeekr said on October 1 that the 2027 model-year 001 was scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027, retaining the current model's shooting brake styling and 900-volt architecture while offering more personalization options.

Zeekr's October Deliveries and Funding Record

According to akta.pro company records, Zeekr has raised $1.6 billion in total funding across three rounds, including a $750 million Series A in February 2023 at a $13 billion valuation and a $500 million first external round in August 2021. The same records list a March 2021 corporate-funded round of $309.3 million led by Geely and Geely Auto Group.

Zeekr's Model Rollout Before the 001 Filing

Zeekr priced its 9X plug-in hybrid SUV from €119,500 in Germany and France, with deliveries beginning in January 2027, Autonews reported in October 2026. The brand debuted at the Paris Motor Show the same month, unveiling the 9X and an updated 7X, EqualOcean reported. In November 2026, Moomoo reported that Zeekr is planning a rugged off-road SUV to rival the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with production expected in 2028-2029.

What Comes After the Comment Period

The 2027 Zeekr 7X is scheduled to launch in China in the fourth quarter, and Zeekr plans to introduce the 007 GT electric shooting brake in Australia during the same period.
