UW Health closed its acquisition of Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam on November 1, 2026, adding about 350 employees and renaming the campus UW Health Beaver Dam Hospital and Clinics. The Madison-based health system did not disclose a dollar value for the transaction, Yahoo reported.

UW Health's Beaver Dam Hospital Deal

The Beaver Dam campus includes the hospital, a nursing home called Hillside Manor and independent living apartments for seniors, along with primary care clinics in Columbus, Horicon and Waupun and two assisted living facilities. UW Health will integrate the hospital and related clinics into its systems in phases. Scheduled appointments will remain the same unless patients are notified otherwise, and patients may keep booking new appointments through My Marshfield Clinic or by calling their clinic's current phone number.

"This is an exciting day for us, for our patients and for our newest team members in Dodge County," Carey Gehl, chief strategy officer at UW Health, said in the news release. "We are committed to providing care close to home whenever possible while also ensuring Beaver Dam and surrounding communities have access to the expert specialty care available at UW Health."

The hospital and its related clinics will continue to accept the same insurance coverage as before, and home health and hospice services will become part of UW Health Care Direct, an organization jointly owned by UW Hospitals and Clinics and UW Medical Foundation. The Beaver Dam campus was among about a dozen hospitals part of Marshfield Clinic Health System, which became part of South Dakota-based Sanford Health following a merger last year. Sanford Health reported operating income of $210.9 million last year, an operating margin of 1.8%. Gehl previously told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the deal had been in the works for more than a year.

UW Health's Scale Across Wisconsin

According to akta.pro company records, UW Health operates six main hospitals and more than 105 primary and specialty outpatient locations, serving 867,000+ patients each year across the Upper Midwest and beyond. The records list the Beaver Dam acquisition as a November 2026 move, announced in July 2026 and closing in November 2026, extending UW Health's footprint into central Wisconsin.

Earlier UW Health Expansion Moves

UW Health announced on July 13, 2026, that it had reached a deal to acquire Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam along with Hillside Manor, the primary care clinics in Columbus, Horicon and Waupun and assisted living facilities, Yahoo reported. On October 16, 2026, Daily Dodge reported that UW Health was preparing to complete the acquisition, with the transition expected to take effect November 1 and a larger technology change planned for early March. Becker's Hospital Review reported on October 20, 2026, that UW Health would open a $140 million expansion at its East Madison Hospital on November 2, increasing operating rooms from 14 to 20 and inpatient beds from 84 to 98.

MyChart Transition Set for March 2027

UW Health plans to transition patients to UW Health MyChart in March 2027, the online patient portal used for scheduling appointments, contacting doctors and viewing lab and test results. Until then, patients may continue using My Marshfield Clinic to pay bills, view health information, talk with their doctors, manage appointments and ask for prescription refills, and UW Health said it will provide advance notice and support before changes.
