TANTRANSCO Tender for Manapparai SIPCOT
A senior TANTRANSCO official said peak electricity demand in Tiruchy touched 600 MW during summer and that additional substations were needed for growing industrial requirements. A senior SIPCOT official said five acres had been allotted for the proposed substation. The industrial park currently draws power from the Kalingapatti substation.
"Industries within the Manapparai SIPCOT park currently consume around 500 MW of electricity a month," the official said. "With more companies expected to establish operations and the proposed expansion of the industrial estate, power requirements are likely to increase further."
SIPCOT plans to expand the park beyond its existing 1,097.36 acres. Around 300 acres were earlier allotted to about 35 industrial units on 99-year leases, according to a report on the park. Of the total area, 131.01 acres are earmarked for SIDCO and 258.60 acres allotted to industries, while nearly 300 acres are reserved for roads, infrastructure and future projects.
Maravanur Land and Park Expansion
SIPCOT officials have identified around 288 acres at Maravanur, about 10 km from the existing facility at Kannudaiyanpatti, for expansion. A proposal seeking the state government's approval to acquire the land is pending. A senior SIPCOT official said Rs 43 crore was allocated in July 2026 for the final phase of infrastructure works.
SIPCOT's Manapparai Infrastructure Funding
According to akta.pro company records, the Tamil Nadu government allocated ₹43.6 crore for infrastructure upgrades at the Manapparai park as part of its SIPCOT Revival Mission to turn industrial parks from land banks into operational manufacturing hubs. The same records describe SIPCOT as managing more than 50 parks and eight SEZs across 24 districts, spanning approximately 48,926.48 acres, with 3,390 industrial units established over 54 years.
Earlier SIPCOT Park Developments
In August 2026, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay virtually inaugurated new infrastructure facilities for non-leather manufacturing companies at the SIPCOT complex in Ranipet, with a total investment of ₹95.05 crore, The Hindu reported. The same month, Industries Minister S. Keerthana told the Assembly that Phase II of SIPCOT's Gangaikondan industrial park would build accommodation for more than 2,500 workers at an estimated ₹130 crore, The Hindu reported.
