McKay Brothers and Relativity Networks Partner to Expand Hollow-Core Fiber Networks
By News Desk ·
Key takeaways
- McKay Brothers purchased Relativity Networks' ChronoCore anti-resonant hollow-core fiber for commercial deployment in its New Jersey networks.
- McKay will offer long-term IRUs on dedicated hollow-core fiber pairs and traditional connectivity from 10 Gbps to 400 Gbps.
- Relativity Networks' ChronoCore fiber enables data to travel roughly 47 percent faster than through conventional glass fiber, according to the company.
McKay Brothers and Relativity Networks announced a partnership on November 2, 2026 to develop and expand hollow-core fiber networks for financial services and compute demand, initially interconnecting key financial market venues in New Jersey. McKay purchased Relativity's ChronoCore anti-resonant hollow-core fiber for commercial deployment in its New Jersey networks, according to PR Newswire.
McKay's ChronoCore Purchase and New Jersey Rollout
McKay Brothers will offer long-term indefeasible rights of use on dedicated hollow-core fiber pairs for the networks, along with traditional connectivity services from 10 Gbps to 400 Gbps. The design includes branches for high-capacity, low-latency interconnection to data center development projects near key financial corridors, where customers are developing inference and training infrastructure. The companies plan expansion into other markets beyond New Jersey.
Tim Boyle, Chief Operating Officer of McKay Brothers, said: "We have worked with successive generations of hollow-core fiber for nearly a decade. Relativity offers the best technical solution we have evaluated for the networks we want to build." Boyle added that "IP provenance and security of supply matter alongside performance" for critical U.S. market infrastructure, citing Relativity's U.S. patent portfolio and roadmap enabled by Prysmian's proprietary fiber and cable production.
Jason Eichenholz, Founder and CEO of Relativity Networks, said: "McKay brings nearly a decade of experience putting hollow-core fiber to work in demanding environments, from data centers and outside plant to towers and integrated fiber-wireless networks." He said McKay's partnership and purchase mark an important commercial milestone for Relativity.
Relativity Networks announced on August 26, 2026 that it raised $22 million from investors including Rhapsody Venture Partners, Bell Ventures and Faster Than Glass, plus a $40 million follow-on order from a hyperscaler, Photonics Spectra reported. ChronoCore's low dispersion, coupled with route design, supports more capacity and longer reach with fewer active optical components, reducing intermediate regeneration and lowering power and real estate requirements.
McKay's Network Expansion Record
According to akta.pro company records, McKay Brothers and its subsidiary Quincy Data launched connectivity services in March 2026 linking Illinois futures markets, including CME Aurora and ICE Futures Chicago, with Sydney's Australian Liquidity Centre and Equinix SY5, achieving sub-168ms round-trip latency. In February 2026, the companies expanded cross-border market interconnection services between Ontario and major US trading hubs in Illinois and New Jersey. McKay also partnered with the Go West Consortium in December 2025 to develop and operate a private network between Chicago and Tokyo, with transport services starting late January 2026.
The same records show McKay operates across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific and owns and operates a purpose-built global network including proprietary wireless towers, radios, and commissioned fiber assets including hollow-core fiber.
