Regulatory Scrutiny Before the Appointment
In August 2026, the Bombay High Court directed the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration to act judiciously after Cadila Pharmaceuticals contested an order banning the sale of some of its medicines, The Times of India reported. The Indian Express reported in October 2026 that the Maharashtra FDA had cancelled sale and distribution licences of three Cadila Pharmaceuticals godowns in Pune, Nagpur and Thane after finding drugs with different active ingredients were sold under deceptively similar names to Aciloc.
In July 2026, Business Standard reported that Cadila Pharmaceuticals said no regulatory order prohibited the manufacture, sale or distribution of its Aciloc 150+ and Aciloc 300+ products, with supplies to pharmacies continuing uninterrupted.
