Arcfra Ships AECP 7.0 and Compute Edition, Letting Enterprises Keep Fibre Channel and iSCSI Storage
By News Desk ·
Key takeaways
- Arcfra released AECP 7.0 with AECP Compute Edition, which uses VCFS to provide shared VM datastores on existing SAN infrastructure.
- Compute Edition supports up to 64 hosts and 4,096 VMs per datastore, with snapshots, clones, space reclamation and live storage migration.
- AECP VDI Standard launches with the release for Omnissa Horizon environments, licensed by CPU cores without storage capacity charges.
- Arcfra plans NetBackup support for Compute Edition in November 2026, then Commvault and Veeam in December 2026.
Arcfra released Arcfra Enterprise Cloud Platform 7.0 with AECP Compute Edition, software that lets enterprises replace VMware virtualization while keeping existing Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage arrays, fabrics and storage procedures, Nate reported on November 2, 2026. The release also adds server utilization controls, host and guest security features, unified infrastructure management and application load balancing.
How Arcfra Compute Edition Keeps Existing SAN Storage
Arcfra built Compute Edition on its Virtualization Cluster File System, which provides shared VM datastores on existing SAN infrastructure. Native capabilities include snapshots, clones, space reclamation and live storage migration. Compute and storage can expand independently, with support for up to 64 hosts and 4,096 VMs per datastore. VCFS requires no controller VM, preserving host resources for workloads.
Administrators can configure memory overcommit for individual VMs while reserving memory for critical applications, and overcommitted VMs remain eligible for live migration, distributed resource scheduling and high availability. Boost I/O acceleration can be enabled for individual VMs, directing acceleration and associated CPU overhead to high I/O workloads. AECP 7.0 adds VM Secure Boot and virtual Trusted Platform Modules for Windows 11, BitLocker and Credential Guard across external storage and HCI deployments, and new clusters enable the host firewall by default.
Arcfra Operation Center 4.10 manages Compute Edition and hyperconverged infrastructure clusters from one console, with capacity forecasting, traffic visualization and Japanese language support in key interface areas. Arcfra Network Service 3.6 adds Layer 7 load balancing alongside existing Layer 4 capabilities. AECP VDI Standard combines Arcfra's Omnissa-certified virtualization and block storage components in HCI mode, letting customers replace vSphere and vSAN while retaining Horizon workflows; licensing is based on CPU cores without storage capacity charges.
Arcfra's Backup Support Plans for Compute Edition
Customers can retain existing backup software, repositories and retention policies, and converged deployments support agentless protection with Commvault, Veeam and NetBackup. For Compute Edition, Arcfra plans NetBackup support in November 2026, then Commvault and Veeam in December 2026.
Arcfra's Earlier Platform and Partnership Moves
Arcfra released AECP 6.3 in March 2026, delivering 11M+ IOPS in 4K random read, native RPO=0 synchronous replication and reduced active-active stretch cluster requirements from 6 to 4 nodes, according to akta.pro company records. In July 2026, SDxCentral reported that Foxconn switched from VMware to Arcfra for its hyperconverged infrastructure, replacing legacy VMware virtualization and SAN architectures with Arcfra's Enterprise Cloud Platform across factories in China, Taiwan, Vietnam and North America. Arcfra released Neutree 1.2 in September 2026, adding Flex Engine to support non-LLM models like MinerU and PaddleOCR, PR Newswire APAC reported.
