Costco to Close Its 1989 Vallejo Warehouse and Open a Larger Store on November 6

Costco will close its Vallejo, California warehouse, which opened in December 1989, and open a larger replacement on November 6, 2026, PRESSBEE reported. The new store at 860 Admiral Callaghan Lane sits less than a mile from the existing warehouse at 198 Plaza Drive.

The new location will cover approximately 152,000 square feet, about 20,000 square feet more than the original warehouse. Shoppers can expect more parking spaces, an expanded gas station and electric vehicle charging stations. KTVU FOX 2 reported that the new gas station will have 30 pumps, compared with 16 at the current location.

The warehouse will offer a pharmacy, optical department, hearing aid center, tire services and a food court. Costco Bay Area regional marketing manager Maegan Galang told KTVU that the company plans to bring in special merchandise not typically available at its warehouses. "We will get all the spice items during the opening, items we don't normally carry," Galang said. She said previous grand openings featured limited quantities of luxury merchandise, including designer goods, but could not confirm which special items would be available in Vallejo.

Eligible shoppers who sign up for a membership with automatic renewal before December 6 can receive a $20 Digital Costco Shop Card with a Gold Star membership or a $40 card with an Executive membership. The new warehouse will be part of Fairview Plaza, a development that will eventually include other businesses and residential properties.

Costco's Wider Warehouse Footprint

The retailer opened two new warehouse stores on June 24 and June 25, 2026, in Syracuse, Utah and Pensacola, Florida, pushing it past 640 US stores. In July 2026, Costco Taiwan announced the relocation of its nearly 30-year-old Kaohsiung store to Zhike Road in Qianzhen District, a location set to become the largest Costco branch in Taiwan.

Earlier Costco Openings and Approvals

In June 2026, the Novato City Council voted to approve a 28-pump Costco gas station at the retailer's existing warehouse, despite Marin County's 2022 ban on new gas stations, because the project was initially approved in March 2021 before the ban took effect, according to akta.pro company records. Costco also opened the Syracuse and Pensacola warehouses that month, the same records show.
