Oracle Releases First PeopleSoft Middleware DPK, Adds Builder for Patch Timing

By ·

Key takeaways

  • Oracle released its first PeopleSoft Middleware Deployment Package for the October security update cycle, replacing the Infrastructure DPK.
  • The Middleware DPK Builder downloads available middleware patches and assembles a ZIP file for deployment through the established DPK process.
  • Oracle's support scope covers PeopleTools 8.61 through 8.63 on Windows and Linux, with no Middleware DPK replacement for Infrastructure DPK on Oracle Solaris or IBM AIX.
  • Oracle delivered a PRP for Cloud Manager Image 22 to enable Middleware DPK use and apply the enablement patch to managed environments.

Oracle has released its first PeopleSoft Middleware Deployment Package (DPK), the replacement for Infrastructure DPK, for the October security update cycle. ERP News reported the October 30 announcement, in which Oracle said the first package had been released earlier that week.

How the Middleware DPK Builder Works

PeopleSoft administrators can download a package that Oracle has prepared and validated from My Oracle Support, or build one themselves to fit their maintenance schedules. The Middleware DPK Builder downloads available middleware patches and assembles a ZIP file for customers to deploy through the established DPK process. Supported components include Java, WebLogic, Tuxedo, Oracle Database Client, and OPatch.

Oracle said in its August transition announcement that the underlying process for applying those patches to existing environments remains the same. The choice addresses a scheduling problem from the October cycle: PeopleTools Strategy Director Dan Iverson said three Java patch releases arrived between Patch Tuesday and publication of the first Middleware DPK, and each required Oracle to rebuild and validate its package. Using the Builder lets customers prepare a package before Oracle publishes its rebuilt version. Oracle says customers must still test the resulting package in their own environments before production deployment.

PeopleTools Patch Levels and Cloud Manager Image 22

Oracle's enablement guidance sets requirements by PeopleTools patch level for Windows and Linux. PeopleTools 8.61.23 and earlier require enablement patch 40124711, and 8.62.13 and earlier require enablement patch 40124744. PeopleTools 8.61.24 and later, 8.62.14 and later, and 8.63 already include Middleware DPK support and the Builder.

The enablement patch updates the PeopleTools DPK directory and supplies the Builder, but it does not change the installed PeopleTools release level or apply middleware security fixes. Administrators use the --apply_mw_cpu option to apply the security package after enablement. Oracle's support scope covers PeopleTools 8.61 through 8.63 on Windows and Linux, and the company says there is no Middleware DPK replacement for Infrastructure DPK on Oracle Solaris or IBM AIX. A new PRP for Cloud Manager Image 22 enables Middleware DPK use within Cloud Manager and adds support for applying the enablement patch to managed environments; Oracle advises Cloud Manager customers to apply it as part of the transition.

Oracle's Earlier Product and Partnership Moves

According to akta.pro company records, Oracle announced in June 2026 the third cohort of its Oracle Defense Ecosystem at the Oracle Defence Tech Summit 2026 in Brussels, adding 10 defense technology companies. The same records show Oracle Health expanded its Baystate Health partnership in June 2026 to deploy AI-powered EHR, Clinical AI Agent, and AI Data Platform across 5 hospitals, 80+ medical practices, and the Health New England health plan.

What Comes After the October Cycle

The release follows Oracle's August 26 transition announcement and the October 9 publication of enablement patches, and the newly available package makes that previously announced transition operational.
