SGS presented Sami, its carbon accounting and ESG management platform, during COP31, saying 84% of greenhouse gas-reduction actions are profitable over the long term and that organizations can save up to EUR 131 per ton of CO₂ avoided. The company outlined the platform and the findings of its Carbon Footprint Radar survey in an announcement covered by EuropaWire.

What SGS's Sami Platform Does

SGS describes Sami as software that automates integration of enterprise resource planning, energy, procurement and logistics data, tailored to an organization's industry. The platform analyzes emissions by scope, site or process, with sector benchmarks, and visualizes emissions hotspots so users can prioritize measures with the greatest potential impact. It also supports goal setting aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative.

Sami is designed for organizations ranging from a single operating site to multinational businesses, and SGS combines the software with its more than 30 years of sustainability expertise. The platform forms part of SGS's IMPACT NOW for sustainability portfolio, alongside diagnostic assessments, customized action plans developed with sector specialists, economic modeling and ongoing progress support.

SGS states that 50% of supplier emissions can be reduced at no net cost, with a return on investment of between 200% and 500%. The company also cites better access to finance or improved financing terms, stronger competitiveness and greater appeal to prospective customers and talent as potential advantages of managing emissions.
