Infrared Pictures Backs Yaitanes Thriller
State of Emergency follows Jenna, who returns to her job as a Boston 911 emergency dispatcher where she is still haunted by the death of her teenage brother and the missed call he placed to her in his final moments. An ordinary overnight shift takes a turn when callers report strange incidents connected to a mysterious event in Boston Harbor, and as a threat closes in on the dispatch center itself, the film gives way to the realization that Boston is ground zero for a catastrophe.
Nick Luddington wrote the screenplay. Infrared Pictures, Sam Brown and Dustin Thomason will produce through their company Curiosity Media, and Infrared is financing. The film is expected to start shooting next year.
Yaitanes most recently directed on Lucky, Dutton Ranch and Spider-Noir, and served as executive producer and director on Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. He was co-executive producer of House of the Dragon and directed three episodes including the season finale, and previously won an Emmy for House. O'Grady recently starred in Kathryn Bigelow's A House Of Dynamite, genre title Monitor and HBO Max's The Comeback, and has Jumanji: Open World upcoming.
"I'm excited to reunite with my longtime collaborators Dustin Thomason and Sam Brown, and to work with a rising talent like Brittany O'Grady," Yaitanes said. "The thriller genre has been a lifelong passion of mine."
FilmNation founder and CEO Glen Basner said: "Infrared is a champion of bold genre films and we can't wait to bring Greg Yaitanes' high-stakes, survival thriller State Of Emergency to audiences worldwide."
