United Airlines plans to introduce nonstop service from Newark Liberty International Airport to eight European destinations between April and June 2027, according to Travel And Tour World. The routes cover Luxembourg City, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Catania.
Newark Liberty's Eight New United Routes
Newark Liberty International Airport is a major international airport in the New York metro area, operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It serves 38 airlines across three terminals and functions as the primary United Airlines hub, connecting passengers to the Northeast corridor via AirTrain.
The planned destinations combine European capitals, Mediterranean vacation markets and island destinations. Several of the cities have traditionally required passengers to transfer through larger European airports. United's growing use of the Airbus A321XLR supports its strategy of operating long-distance flights to destinations with relatively smaller passenger markets.
Air France separately plans a nonstop Paris Charles de Gaulle service from Nashville International Airport starting May 14, 2027, a route the airline has announced for the same year. The Nashville airport authority spent $450,000 on preparations for a Boring Co. tunnel, part of its special projects, according to Stateaffairs.
Newark Liberty's Terminal and AirTrain Work
Newark Liberty initiated the AirTrain Newark Replacement project to modernize the automated people mover connecting terminals, parking, rental cars and public transit, according to akta.pro company records. In March 2026 the airport partnered with Munich Airport NJ LLC, which operates Terminal A under Port Authority oversight, and jointly launched a digital art program featuring New Jersey artists. Terminal A opened in 2023 as a one million square foot facility.
Earlier Newark Liberty Developments
In July 2026, United Airlines said it would begin daily nonstop flights from Northwest Arkansas National Airport to Newark Liberty on Sept. 24, making Newark the Arkansas airport's 28th nonstop destination, Talk Business & Politics reported. In October 2026, The Times of India reported that Newark used coal fly ash in a stabilized pavement base for jumbo-jet runways in the 1970s, and that the FHWA found the base performed satisfactorily after more than 20 years, though cracking remains a potential flaw.
What Comes Next for the 2027 Schedules
United's Newark routes are announced for April through June 2027. Air France's Nashville to Paris Charles de Gaulle service is announced for May 14, 2027.
