Friday Launches MCP Server and Partner API, Adding QuickBooks, Coverdash, SmartPay and Human Interest Integrations

Friday, the small business payroll software company, announced an expanded integrations program on October 14, 2026, connecting payroll to QuickBooks, Coverdash, SmartPay and Human Interest 401(k), alongside a self-serve Partner API, webhooks and an MCP server for AI coding tools. Friday's Payroll Integrations and Partner API

Each completed payroll syncs to QuickBooks Online as a journal entry, with wages, employer taxes, deductions and contributions mapped to the company's chart of accounts. QuickBooks Desktop users can export payroll from Friday and import it. From the Insurance page in the Friday admin portal, business owners can compare quotes across 30+ carriers, buy a policy, download a certificate of insurance, or connect a policy they already have, and pay-as-you-go workers' comp is available once payroll has run.

Businesses with an existing workers' comp policy can have Friday report payroll wage data to SmartPay, so premiums are calculated on real wages each pay period instead of an annual estimate, and Friday publishes setup guides for more than 60 carrier programs. Employee deferrals and employer match for a Human Interest 401(k) are calculated and sent with every payroll run, with no census-file uploads or manual reconciliation. Friday's tablet kiosk and mobile clock-in feed hours straight into payroll, with geofencing and IP restrictions, and hours can be tagged to customers and projects for job costing.

The Partner API is a self-serve REST API covering employees, time records, customers and projects, PTO, departments, payrolls and payroll reports. Developers generate a key in the developer portal, build against a sandbox, and move to production without waiting for a manual approval, while webhooks let integrations subscribe to events instead of polling. The Friday MCP server uses the open Model Context Protocol to connect AI coding assistants to Friday's API documentation, and once a developer adds the server to Claude Code, Cursor, or another tool that supports JSON MCP configuration, the assistant can look up endpoint behavior, explain request and response shapes, and help debug API calls using Friday's own docs rather than guessing from memory.

Friday's QuickBooks and Plaid Records

According to akta.pro company records, Friday integrated with Guideline in 2024 to offer 401(k) plan management inside the platform, and it holds integrations with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop for accounting synchronization. The same records list Plaid Technologies, Inc. as the provider Friday uses to securely collect and verify bank account information for direct deposit setup.

Payroll Rivals Add Their Own Integrations

BrightHR Australia announced a direct API integration with Xero Payroll on October 8, 2026, automating award rate calculations and providing audit trails, iTWire reported. Remote launched Remote MCP on October 10, 2026 to let AI agents access payroll data securely, according to Saastr. Halfpricesoft.com announced mid-year payroll accommodation features in its ezPaycheck software on September 30, 2026, PR Newswire reported.

Friday's Availability and Developer Documentation

Friday said the QuickBooks, Coverdash, SmartPay, Partner API, webhooks and MCP server integrations are available now.
