Sensitron Semiconductor announced the SPHM/SEHM Series of programmable Solid State Power Controllers for 270VDC power distribution on November 6, 2026, according to PR Newswire. Each module switches, protects and monitors up to 16 electrical loads, with channels programmable from 1A to 10A for a total capacity of up to 160A.
How the SPHM/SEHM Series Works
The Sensitron Semiconductor series is built on a microcontroller-based, commercial off-the-shelf architecture. It replaces discrete circuit breakers, solid state relays and system monitors with one networked unit. Channels can be paralleled to drive higher-current loads, which the company said lets system designers tailor the power architecture to the platform.
Protection features include true I²t protection with thermal memory, instant-trip capability and a trip-free reset circuit. Soft turn-on and turn-off limit inrush and reduce electromagnetic interference. Integrated current, voltage and temperature sensing delivers readings accurate to within 5% across the full operating temperature range, and measurements and channel status are reported to the system controller over dual CAN or dual RS485 interfaces.
Additional features include start-up and continuous built-in self-test, galvanic isolation between the control interface and line power, programmable interface I/O signals, a bootloader with field-updatable runtime code and onboard code space for customer-developed application software. The modules use conduction cooling with an operating range of −45°C to +100°C.
"The introduction of our latest 270VDC Solid State Power Controller represents a significant leap forward in thermal management, effectively reducing junction temperatures by 15% compared to industry standard components," said Joseph Castaldo, Sensitron's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "By leveraging advanced wide-bandgap semiconductor materials, Sensitron Semiconductor is empowering engineers to push the boundaries of power distribution in the most demanding aerospace and defense applications."
The SPHM Series is supplied as an open-frame card for integration into existing enclosures, while the SEHM Series adds an IP67-rated enclosure for harsh environments. Target applications include military ground vehicles, unmanned and manned aerial vehicles, marine vessels, command and communication centers, energy exploration equipment and off-highway vehicles. Sensitron's Earlier 2026 Product Releases
According to akta.pro company records, Sensitron announced the next-generation SMCV2 Motor Controller family in July 2026, delivering over 15 kW in a compact 3.30 x 2.70 x 1.21 inch footprint for e-mobility, aerospace, defense and industrial platforms with voltages from under 28V to 900V DC. In April 2026 the company released the SCP-5282-300-450-3 TVS module, providing 450kW peak pulse protection for three-phase 115VAC systems compliant with MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-704 and DO-160 Level 5. In March 2026 it launched the SHD763701-1 MOS Gated Thyristor for high-reliability aerospace, defense and industrial high-voltage, high-current power switching. The same records list a strategic collaboration with Efficient Power Conversion to develop and manufacture GaN-based power modules, using EPC's 350V EPC2050 eGaN FET.
