## FBI Activity at Four Midlothian Locations

An FBI official confirmed only that the bureau was at the properties conducting court-authorized activity. Officers were at the 4000 block of Wisteria, the 500 block of S. 9th Street, the 2900 block of Eagles Nest and the 2500 block of Springer Road. Chopper video showed police entering the Springer Road property, where West Texas Crude Energy LLC sits at 2520 Springer Road. Public records tie that address to Robert Curry III.

Brett Michael Kemp, who lists himself on LinkedIn as the CFO, CRO and CCO of West Texas Crude Energy LLC, has an address in the 4000 block of Wisteria, according to public records. Kemp, Curry III and the company are defendants in at least three lawsuits in which investors allege they were defrauded through oil and gas investment offerings. Several investors claim they provided nearly $2 million for projects that did not materialize as the company said they would.

One investor, Chris Daubitz, told WFAA he initially received payments from the company before they stopped. A group of 10 investors claims it gave the company $1.45 million, received $866,965 in return and is still owed $588,000, according to the suit. In the latest suit, filed November 4, investor Lawrence V. Brackett alleges the projects and representations were fictitious, writing that "all of it was a sham." The FBI did not say whether its activity was related to the civil lawsuits, and no criminal charges connected to the allegations were publicly known as of November 7. WFAA said it had not heard back from the company or from Kemp and Curry III.
