The vehicle plans to add 2.7 GW of solar, 900 MW of wind and 4.2 GWh of battery storage to Egypt's renewable capacity.\n\n## How the EBRD-Scatec Egypt Vehicle Works\n\nThe EBRD is acquiring a minority equity stake in the vehicle, with [Scatec](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/0003ydb/scatec) remaining the majority stakeholder. The vehicle will finance the acquisition, development and construction of renewable energy infrastructure in Egypt and across the southern and eastern Mediterranean region.\n\nHarry Boyd-Carpenter, managing director of the EBRD's Sustainable Infrastructure Group, said: \"This equity investment marks an important step in strengthening Egypt's energy security.\" Scatec chief executive Terje Pilskog said: \"Egypt has become one of Scatec's most important markets, and this platform reflects both the scale of what we are building there and the quality of the assets we have developed.\"\n\nThe projects will be developed under the energy pillar of Egypt's Nexus of Water, Food and Energy initiative, launched at the COP27 climate conference in Sharm El Sheikh. The EBRD-led pillar supports private-sector renewable energy capacity, electricity-network investment, skills development and a just energy transition. The EBRD said it has invested more than €16 billion in 238 projects in Egypt since beginning operations there in 2012.\n\n## Scatec's Funding and Project Record\n\nAccording to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), Scatec has 18 funding rounds on record and total funding of $2.1 billion. Scatec also secured a three-year equity bridge loan facility worth $150 million from The Arab Energy Fund for two major renewable energy projects in Egypt, Zawya reported in October 2026. In October 2026, Scatec started construction of the 900 MW Shadwan wind project in Egypt, Renewable Energy Magazine reported.\n\n## COP31 Dates in Antalya\n\nThe EBRD's page lists COP31 as taking place between 9 November and 20 November 2025 in Antalya, Turkiye.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
