QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited, and Valeo announced a strategic collaboration to integrate QNX OS for Safety into Valeo's new front-view smart camera platform, which has secured design wins with multiple automakers in China and is expected to enter production later in 2026. Stock Titan reported the announcement, made at the Canada Pavilion during the ninth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.

How the Valeo Front-View Camera Platform Works

The production-ready platform combines QNX's safety-certified software with Valeo's ADAS hardware and full ADAS software stack, giving automakers a scalable foundation for front-view camera capabilities. Front-view smart cameras support detection of vehicles, pedestrians, road markings and traffic signs. By using QNX OS for Safety on the SoC platform, Valeo's system is designed to let automakers deploy front-view camera systems across multiple vehicle programs.

"Automakers need ADAS platforms that deliver safety, performance and cost efficiency without adding unnecessary development complexity," said William Dong, Chief Representative of Greater China at QNX. "Valeo's decision to build their new smart camera platform on QNX reflects the trust that leading companies across the automotive ecosystem place in our safety-certified foundational software."

Song ZHOU, Valeo China President, said: "Every automaker is taking a slightly different approach to ADAS, so flexibility is key." QNX and Valeo have worked together for many years, with QNX technology underpinning Valeo solutions across numerous vehicle programs worldwide. Valeo reported €20.9 billion in sales in 2025 and operates 59 R&D centers, according to its company profile.

QNX Scale Behind the Valeo Collaboration

According to akta.pro company records, QNX was founded in 1980 and its embedded technology powers more than 275 million vehicles globally. The same records describe QNX as the No. 1 operating system for mission-critical automotive systems, trusted by OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. QNX is headquartered in Ottawa and has between 501 and 1,000 employees.

QNX's Run of Automotive Announcements

On September 29, 2026, a major German automaker selected neueHCT's QNX-powered HCT Luna camera solution for a global passenger vehicle platform launching in China, Stock Titan reported. On October 7, 2026, Vector and QNX supplied their Alloy Core software platform to CorTerra, a joint venture of Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, in the platform's first official order, Naver reported. On November 2, 2026, QNX launched its first global hackathon, a six-week virtual event on QNX SDP 8.0 offering $50,000 in prizes, TradingView reported.

Canada Trade Minister on the Valeo Partnership

"BlackBerry's QNX software, developed in Canada, is already embedded in more than 275 million vehicles globally," said The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Canada's Minister of International Trade. "This new partnership with Valeo will create new opportunities in a growing market like China."
