[NDTV Profit](https://www.ndtvprofit.com/india/food-safety-crackdown-pvr-inox-juice-counter-shut-down-in-bengaluru-mall-after-complaint-over-cups-used-to-serve-drinks-12290536) reported the action on November 6.\n\n## Inside the Forum Mall Inspection\n\nKhader said in a post on X late on Thursday that the action followed a complaint about the cups used to serve juice to customers at the PVR INOX outlet in Forum Mall, Konanakunte Cross. Food Safety Officers of the Department of Health and Family Welfare inspected the premises and found the violations, he said. Photographs shared with the post showed the counter's entrance criss-crossed with tape, with officers standing beside it holding the notice.\n\nKhader used the action to address the wider industry. \"When it comes to food safety, the same rules apply to everyone, from big brands to small vendors,\" he said. \"Public health matters as much as business.\" He urged food businesses to follow the rules \"with their customers' health in mind\" and asked the public to report unhygienic food, packaging or serving practices by scanning the Food Safety QR code attached to the post. \"Every complaint will be looked into,\" he said.\n\nThe QR system was launched on August 17 as part of a wider state drive. Khader said on August 7 that the state had begun inspecting five-star hotels to ensure consumers were served safe and hygienic food. On September 23, he said the drive would be extended to street food vendors, with an emphasis on hygiene and safe food handling.\n\n## PVR INOX's Screen Expansion Plans\n\nOn November 5, PVR INOX opened its eighth cinema in Jaipur at Pacific Mall, Mansarovar, introducing Rajasthan's first IMAX auditorium, BusinessLine reported. The five-screen property, with 949 seats, debuted with Ramayana and expands the company's IMAX network to 27 screens. On November 2, the company's CFO told The Times of India that PVR INOX plans to add 150-175 new screens annually from FY28, up from 90-100 this year, with most via asset-light franchise and developer-funded models.\n\n## Other Food Safety Actions in India\n\nNoida food safety officials suspended a Zepto store in Sector 135 over hygiene lapses, ordering it to stop operations until corrective measures are completed, [The Times of India](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/noida/food-safety-dept-suspends-zepto-store-operations-over-hygiene-lapses-before-diwali/articleshow/135279382.cms) reported on October 28. Of 18 establishments inspected, 16 received improvement notices for deficiencies including inadequate cleanliness and missing records. Uttar Pradesh's Food Safety and Drug Administration issued guidelines on October 27 restricting non-food grade industrial dyes like Rhodamine-B in street foods, chutneys and cotton candy, [The Indian Express](https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-health/up-food-colour-rules-banned-dyes-guidelines-explained-10938842/) reported, with penalties up to Rs 5 lakh for violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act.\n\n## Waste Management Fine at the Same Mall\n\nBengaluru South City Corporation fined staff linked to PVR INOX and the mall a total of Rs 1.25 lakh over waste management violations, PTI reported. The Forum Mall multiplex drew the civic action in a separate matter from the food safety inspection.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
