Recustomer Inc. Said myhalo CircularXchange, the Singapore device retail brand operated by PC Dreams Group, has adopted its Try Before You Buy and Pre-Order services for smartphone and PC rentals. The announcement was published by [Prtimes](https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000149.000046039.html). Customers can begin a rental with no upfront payment, and a device not returned within 90 days is charged within the reserved authorisation and treated as a purchase.

## How myhalo's Rental Checkout Works

[myhalo](https://myhalo.com.sg) sells, trades in, repairs and upcycles smartphones and PCs, and runs an official online store alongside physical stores at Bugis Junction and Sim Lim Square. Recustomer Try Before You Buy places an authorisation hold on the customer's credit card, reserving part of the available limit, while charging nothing at checkout. The customer pays nothing for the device upfront, and the charge is settled after the device is returned.

Recustomer said credit card authorisations expire, which makes keeping a hold in place over a long period a technical challenge. The company holds Japanese Patent No. 7721200 for automatic re-authorisation in e-commerce, which renews the authorisation so the hold stays active for the full rental period. Recustomer Inc. Is led by co-CEOs Yasuhiro Shibata and Shota Tsujino and was founded in March 2017.

Myhalo has also adopted Recustomer Pre-Order for pre-sales of new iPhone models. Under that setup, only a credit card authorisation is secured when an order is placed, and payment is captured when the product ships. Recustomer said myhalo aims to capture demand ahead of product launches through this arrangement.

Recustomer describes demand for device rentals as coming from international students on short-term stays and from businesses needing equipment for trade shows and exhibitions. The company said myhalo set out to build a system that would let it offer rentals with confidence.

## Recustomer's Five Purchase Services

Recustomer operates a purchase experience platform with five services: Delivery Tracking, which notifies customers of estimated delivery dates; Returns & Exchanges and Cancellation, which automate those order processes; Try Before You Buy, which lets customers try products before deciding to buy; and Pre-Order / Back-in-Stock Reservation, which captures demand ahead of a launch or restock.
