Customers can begin a rental with no upfront payment, and a device not returned within 90 days is charged within the reserved authorisation and treated as a purchase.\n\n## How myhalo's Rental Checkout Works\n\n[myhalo](https://myhalo.com.sg) sells, trades in, repairs and upcycles smartphones and PCs, and runs an official online store alongside physical stores at Bugis Junction and Sim Lim Square. Recustomer Try Before You Buy places an authorisation hold on the customer's credit card, reserving part of the available limit, while charging nothing at checkout. The customer pays nothing for the device upfront, and the charge is settled after the device is returned.\n\nRecustomer said credit card authorisations expire, which makes keeping a hold in place over a long period a technical challenge. The company holds Japanese Patent No. 7721200 for automatic re-authorisation in e-commerce, which renews the authorisation so the hold stays active for the full rental period. Recustomer Inc.
