Ingersoll Rand holds more than 80% market share in equipment supplied for EV manufacturing in India, Vikas Bhat, the company's India service leader for power tools and industrial lifting, said at the Autocar Professional India EV Conclave 2026, Autocar Professional reported. Ingersoll Rand makes industrial power tools, lifting equipment and manufacturing software for automotive assembly.

Ingersoll Rand's Fastening and Robotic Assembly Tools

Bhat said the company's solutions cover precision fastening, robotic integration, material handling and manufacturing execution systems, spanning electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. A large part of his presentation addressed fastening accuracy in critical joints involving suspension, chassis and wheel assemblies.

The company's transducerised DC fastening tools offer accuracy levels of approximately 2-3% while recording tightening parameters for quality monitoring, according to Bhat. The tools are Industry 4.0-compatible and capture torque values, tightening timestamps and other production parameters, so manufacturers can trace individual fastening operations where incorrect tightening could affect vehicle safety or assembly quality. Ingersoll Rand also supplies cordless, Wi-Fi-enabled fastening tools for joints with restricted access, such as beneath vehicle chassis, and these retain torque monitoring and traceability.

Bhat said the equipment can be mounted on robotic arms from FANUC, KUKA and ABB for programmed tightening without manual intervention. He cited two-wheeler production lines running at intervals of approximately 13-14 seconds per vehicle. The company's PICO manufacturing execution system integrates fastening tools, industrial robots, servo motors and other connected devices, and Bhat said it can be configured and made operational in less than two days.

Ingersoll Rand also supplies electric hoists, balancers, handling arms and rail-mounted systems for lifting and positioning heavy components. Bhat cited installations at Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Ather, Ola Electric and Yamaha, and customised handling solutions for TVS Motor Company and Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles. The company manufactures industrial power tools and lifting equipment at its Sahibabad facility in Ghaziabad, which also houses engineering, service and customised solutions capabilities supported by NABL-accredited calibration facilities.
