Australia Post will build an 8,000m2 parcel facility on Airport Drive next to Wellcamp Airport in Toowoomba, opening in mid-2028, the company said. Mirage News reported the announcement on November 6, 2026.

Toowoomba Hub Consolidates StarTrack Sites

The new Toowoomba Parcel Facility will bring together operations from existing Australia Post and StarTrack sites into one purpose-built building. Australia Post said the site will feature advanced automation capable of processing up to 5,000 parcels per hour, reducing manual handling.

The facility will deliver parcels to and from over 100 facilities across 700 Queensland suburbs. Shane Plant, Australia Post Executive General Manager Network Operations, said regional centres like Toowoomba are "experiencing strong and sustained growth in online shopping, with the region consistently among the highest-volume locations for parcels."

Plant said the location next to Wellcamp Airport offers access to major road infrastructure and the future opportunity to use airside capability. Wagner Corporation, which owns and operates Wellcamp Airport and Wellcamp Business Park, is partnering with Australia Post on the facility, to be delivered over the next 18 months.

Jon Burrell, a director of Toowoomba-headquartered customer Tentworld, said reliable delivery is critical for the family-owned regional business. "We look forward to the opening of this new facility in Toowoomba, which will enable us to deliver products faster and better support our customers right across Australia," he said.

The site is planned to feature a 200kW rooftop solar system, a rain harvesting tank and electric vehicle charging. StarTrack customers will have dedicated pick-up and drop-off points, and multiple retail outlets will continue to serve Toowoomba.

Australia Post's Recent Network Moves

Australia Post acquired Rendr, a last-mile delivery orchestration platform founded in 2020, in April 2026, according to akta.pro company records. The same records show a three-year exclusive delivery partnership with Vinted, making Australia Post the delivery partner for Vinted's Australian launch on July 1, 2026.

The records list a $28.4 million grant led by the Australian Government in July 2026. Australia Post is a government-owned postal and logistics corporation founded in 1809 and headquartered in Melbourne, with more than 4,000 licensed post offices.

Earlier Queensland and Regional Expansions

Australia Post broke ground on a 10,000m2 parcel facility in Morwell in October 2026, consolidating its Moe, Morwell and Traralgon operations, Mirage News reported. The Gippsland hub, opening late 2027, can process up to 5,000 parcels per hour and includes solar and EV charging.

Qantas Freight and Australia Post delivered the first of three Airbus A321P2F freighters to Western Sydney in October 2026, adding up to 20% capacity, with each aircraft carrying up to 20,000 parcels per flight, Mirage News reported.

Brisbane and Sunshine Coast Openings

Australia Post said its largest air and speed hub at Brisbane Airport opened earlier this year, and the Sunshine Coast Parcel Facility is set to officially open early next year.
