Thryfter will present its livestream commerce platform to Goodwill member organizations at the Goodwill CONNECT Conference in Houston on November 9–10, the company said in a PR Newswire announcement on November 5, 2026. The Austin, Texas-based company built the platform for the thrift, vintage and resale industry.

What Thryfter Will Show Goodwill Organizations

Thryfter's platform combines live video, real-time customer interaction and competitive bidding, according to the announcement. The company said the presentation will demonstrate how the technology can complement brick-and-mortar retail, extend customer engagement beyond store locations and create new ways to monetize donated merchandise.

The announcement listed five uses Thryfter will demonstrate: building customer relationships through live interaction, product demonstrations and real-time bidding; reaching shoppers locally, regionally and nationwide; generating incremental revenue through new sales channels for donated merchandise; engaging younger and digitally connected audiences; and using existing store operations and inventory without building a traditional e-commerce operation.

The presentation will also cover Thryfter's vision for a dedicated Goodwill shopping channel within the Thryfter app and livestream technology tailored to Goodwill member organizations' missions and operating environments.

"The invitation to present at Connect is one we're very excited about. Goodwill is synonymous with thrift and Goodwill organizations have spent decades building strong relationships with their local communities," said Thryfter CEO John Paterson. "Livestream commerce offers an opportunity to extend those relationships far beyond the walls of their stores, engaging their customers on a deeper level while reaching new audiences, creating additional revenue streams, and making thrift shopping more accessible than ever before."

Paterson also described the platform as an addition to physical stores rather than a substitute. "Livestream shopping isn't about replacing the in-store thrift experience," he said. "It's about taking everything that makes thrift shopping exciting—the discovery, the unexpected finds, and the thrill of getting a great deal—and making that experience available to customers wherever they happen to be."

Goodwill's Retail and Workforce Scale

According to akta.pro company records, Goodwill Industries International is the 501(c)(3) supporting organization for 150 independent local Goodwill nonprofits. The same records show Goodwill posted $7 billion in revenue for 2025 and that 2.1 million people across more than 150 Goodwill organizations accessed training and resources.

Goodwill's Recent Expansion Moves

Goodwill launched the Valley Connect platform in Youngstown, Ohio, on October 30, 2026, to connect people to health, employment and educational resources, Yahoo reported. Goodwill also said it will open a store and donation center in a long-vacant Sears Hardware site in Elk Grove Village, securing a 20-year lease for a 24,000-square-foot location targeted for early next spring, the Daily Herald reported. Goodwill of the Finger Lakes announced on October 26, 2026, that its Henrietta store will relocate from Jefferson Road to 1000 Hylan Drive, Yahoo reported.
