NativeSeed Group acquired the assets of Sharp Brothers Seed Company in Healy, Kansas, the company said on November 5, 2026. The price was undisclosed. PR Newswire carried the announcement. Sharp Brothers specializes in cleaning, processing and conditioning warm-season native grasses.
NativeSeed Group's Sharp Brothers Asset Deal
Sharp Brothers' processing capabilities join NativeSeed Group's network of regional seed companies, including Star Seed in Osborne, Kansas. The group said the addition significantly expands its seed cleaning services and strengthens its position across the Great Plains. Sharp Brothers has produced, cleaned and conditioned warm-season grasses, wildflowers and native seed for conservation, reclamation and landscape markets for 74 years.
Growers and conservation partners can now access professional cleaning and conditioning at Sharp Brothers as part of NativeSeed Group's seed cleaning services. Dedicated equipment and experienced operators de-awn, debeard and condition species such as big bluestem, little bluestem, Indiangrass, switchgrass, sideoats grama and buffalo grass to high purity with consistent germination.
"Sharp Brothers has built its reputation on the highest quality native seed cleaning," said Charlie Bowman, CEO of NativeSeed Group. "Combining that expertise with our Star Seed team in Kansas gives growers, conservation agencies and restoration professionals across the Great Plains access to both high-quality native seed and expert cleaning that helps new plantings establish in the soil."
The company said the acquisition continues its expansion across the American West and Great Plains. Conservation agencies, reclamation contractors, land managers and mining and energy operators across the West and Midwest U.S. gain access to a broader portfolio of native species and the processing capacity to deliver them. NativeSeed Group goes to market through nine regional seed houses, including Star Seed, Granite Seed and Pacific Coast Seed.
