Impact Minerals has proposed renaming itself Altrica Advanced Materials to reflect its shift toward high-purity alumina development, with shareholders set to vote on the change at the annual general meeting on November 30. The proposal was reported by [TradingView](https://www.tradingview.com/news/smallcaps:3e71370a7094b:0-impact-minerals-proposes-name-change-to-altrica-reflecting-hpa-focus/).

## Why Impact Minerals Wants the Altrica Name

The name change requires approval by special resolution at the November 30 meeting. Impact Minerals said the Altrica name is meant to set apart its high-purity alumina direction from its earlier focus on precious and base metals exploration, while leaving existing shareholdings unaffected.

The proposal follows an October strategic review that made the 80%-owned Lake Hope project in Western Australia the company's principal destination for management attention and development capital. A June 2025 pre-feasibility study for Lake Hope outlined a net present value at a 10% discount rate of $1.165 billion and a post-tax internal rate of return of 47%, based on approximately 33 years of feedstock. Impact Minerals said the material assumptions behind the production target and financial forecasts remain unchanged.

Impact Minerals also holds a 50% interest in Alluminous, whose HiPurA pilot plant in Perth is producing high-purity alumina for customer qualification. Initial samples have been shipped to US battery technology partner Charge CCCV, and the company lists semiconductors, LED lighting, batteries, synthetic sapphire and technical ceramics as potential applications.

The company intends to keep its high-purity alumina activities at Lake Hope and Alluminous separate in management and investor reporting from its Broken Hill and Commonwealth metals exploration assets. The exploration team will redirect its emphasis toward critical minerals, with work on manganese, tungsten and bismuth still at an early stage.

"The strategic review gave us one capital priority and two clearly separated businesses—Altrica Advanced Materials is a name that reflects that strategy," executive chair Jim McKerlie said.

## Impact Minerals' Path to the Lake Hope Pilot Plant

Impact Minerals advanced its Lake Hope high-purity alumina project in Western Australia during the June quarter, completing key processing studies, progressing engineering work toward the definitive feasibility study and commissioning a pilot plant through its 50%-owned associate Alluminous, alcircle reported.

In August 2026, the company announced a renounceable rights issue to raise up to AUD 4.1 million (USD 2.9 million) to fund development of its high-purity alumina opportunities, alcircle reported. In September 2026, it outlined a modular high-purity alumina plant on the US Gulf Coast, with a NewPro study supporting a staged 2,000-4,000 tpa facility and modelling a post-tax NPV of AUD 518 million (USD 373 million) and a 42.3% IRR, alcircle reported.

## Lake Hope Pilot Plant Timeline

The Lake Hope pilot plant installation and commissioning program remains scheduled to commence on November 30, the same day as the annual general meeting. McKerlie said the company expects to be measured against clear milestones, "starting with construction and commissioning the Lake Hope pilot plant by 30 November 2026."
