## Where ABB India's $75 Million Will Go

Of the $75 million, $22 million is earmarked for the Nashik electrification plant, $21 million for the motion plant in Peenya, Bengaluru, and $14 million for the electrification and automation plants in Nelamangala. A further $12 million goes to the electrification research and development lab and office in Hyderabad, and $6 million to the motion plant in Vadodara.

Sridhar said capital expenditure in India has averaged ₹300 crore a year over the last five to six years. "I think that investment journey will continue, because you need to build factories as the demand is robust," he said. "Organic expansion is very interesting for us because it definitely gives us better return on investment."

Sharma said automation at the Nelamangala switchgear plant has let the company hire younger workers with fewer skills and train them quickly. "Most of them are youngsters, young girls," he said. ABB India's workforce grew 57% from around 7,000 workers in 2021 to more than 11,000 in 2026, and revenue nearly doubled to around $1.4 billion in 2025 from $730 million in 2021. About 88% of its business comes from within India and 12% from exports.
