[Ars Technica](https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2026/11/vmware-releases-vsphere-express-for-virtualization-on-up-to-128-cores/) reported that IT distributor TD Synnex lists the product at $9,600 a year for running on up to 128 cores.\n\n## What vSphere Express Includes\n\nVMware positioned vSphere Express for organizations that require what it called cost-effective essential virtualization. The product includes vMotion, which VMware described as live migration of running virtual machines with improved migration speed and efficiency, and high availability for the automated restart of failed virtual machines.\n\nPrashanth Shenoy, VP of product marketing for VMware Cloud Foundation, said the product supports only discrete instances, so organizations cannot manage them centrally, according to The Register. \"We started listening to a lot of our lower-end customers who didn't really want the VVF but wanted the core virtualization capability, and [vSphere Express is] really meant for that market,\" Shenoy said, per SDxCentral.\n\nThe price does not get cheaper with fewer cores, which still presents a challenge to the smallest use cases. A VMware spokesperson told The Register that the company will sell a per-core subscription license at a price that will be significantly lower than the VMware vSphere Foundation bundle and VMware Cloud Foundation but would not provide a price quote. vSphere Express will be updated as frequently as VCF and VVF are, The Register reported.\n\n## VMware's Cloud Foundation Push\n\nVMware, a Broadcom subsidiary, launched VMware Cloud Foundation 9 and VCF 9.1 as an AI- and Kubernetes-native private cloud platform in June 2026, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data). The same records show VMware segment revenue of $6.8 billion with 78% operating margins and $9.2 billion in bookings reported for Q1 2026, and 13% year-over-year revenue growth following the Broadcom acquisition.\n\n## Telco Cloud and Google Cloud Moves\n\nBroadcom ended standalone sales of its VMware Telco Cloud Platform SKU on November 2, integrating the platform into VMware Cloud Foundation, SDxCentral reported. Existing customers will continue support per their agreements but must sign up for the new VCF-based offering.\n\nGoogle Cloud announced general availability of its self-managed VMware solution on dedicated Z3 bare metal on October 27, complementing its managed VMware Engine, according to the Google Cloud Blog. Virtuozzo updated its V/IS 8.0 platform with Nvidia GPU support and a VMware migration tool on October 20, Channeldive reported, positioning it as an affordable alternative.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
