[Construction Mirror](https://constructionmirror.com/siemens-completes-acquisition-of-key-mermec-businesses-to-expand-rail-technology-portfolio/) reported the closing on November 4, 2026. The acquired businesses generated approximately €430 million in revenue in FY2025 and employ around 1,700 people.\n\nSiemens is a Munich-headquartered industrial technology conglomerate founded in 1847 that sells industrial software, automation hardware, rail systems and smart infrastructure equipment. MERMEC Group is an Italy-based railway technology company whose businesses span signalling, electrification, diagnostics and measurement.\n\n## What Siemens Mobility Gained From MERMEC\n\nThe transaction was initially announced in May 2026. The acquisition covers MERMEC's businesses in Italian wayside signalling, electrification, telecommunications, diagnostics, analytics and worldwide data infrastructure.\n\nThe deal excludes the group's investments in Angelstar S.r.l., Mont Saint Michel S.A.S. and its subsidiary Compagnie des Signaux S.A.S., along with CSEE DE, formerly known as MERMEC Deutschland, which remains with Angelo Holding.\n\nThe acquired businesses serve customers in more than 70 countries. Their employees, operating sites and industrial capabilities, including the Ferrosud facility in Matera, will become part of Siemens Mobility's global innovation network.\n\nMichael Peter, President of Siemens Mobility, said the addition of MERMEC's businesses and employees marks an important milestone in strengthening the company's global rail technology portfolio. He added that combining the capabilities in signalling, diagnostics and asset intelligence would expand the solutions available to customers worldwide while increasing Siemens Mobility's industrial footprint in Italy.\n\nThe integration will combine Siemens' expertise in urban signalling and asset intelligence with MERMEC's presence in mainline railway infrastructure and its portfolio of diagnostic vehicles, measurement systems and inspection software. The combined capabilities are expected to provide railway operators with an expanded range of infrastructure monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions.\n\n## Siemens' Scale Behind the Rail Deal\n\nSiemens AG reported €19.8 billion in revenue and €2.2 billion in net profit for Q2 2026, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), with a record €124 billion order backlog supported by Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure and Mobility. The same records show Siemens projects €94.0 billion in revenue and €11.0 billion in earnings by 2029.\n\n## Earlier Siemens Moves in 2026\n\nSiemens and the Charter of Trust hosted a high-level dialogue on critical infrastructure security, bringing together government, industry and cybersecurity experts, Engineering.com reported in November 2026. Siemens also introduced the Sinamics E210 converter and Simotics E-1EE1 servomotors for 24V and 48V battery-powered mobile systems such as AGVs and AMRs, the company announced in November 2026.\n\nIn October 2026, Siemens introduced a packaged pre-engineered microgrid switchboard that integrates power distribution, automation and cybersecurity for distributed energy resources, Engineering.com reported.\n","publisher":{"name":"News for Agent","url":"https://newsforagent.com"}}
