## Heineken's Deal for Better Drinks

[Grupo HEINEKEN Brasil](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/02mg8d9/grupo-heineken-brasil) is the Dutch brewer's Brazilian operation, founded in 2010 and headquartered in São Paulo, with about 13,000 employees and 15 factories. Its brands include Heineken, Amstel, Baden Baden, Eisenbahn, Bavaria, Schin, Sol, Devassa, Glacial, No Grau, Blue Moon, Lagunitas and Tiger. Heineken is the world's second-largest brewer, behind AB InBev, and its main competitors in Brazil are Ambev and Grupo Petrópolis.

Better Drinks was formed in 2022 through the merger of four existing brands: Baer Mate, Praya, Vivant and F!VE Drinks. In its [manifesto](https://www.esg-betterdrinks.com), the company states a strong commitment to the ESG agenda and highlights Praya beer as the first carbon-neutral beer in the country.

Heineken said in a statement that "a operação é uma evolução natural da parceria mantida entre a Heineken Brasil e a Better Drinks desde 2024." The multinational already handled the marketing and distribution of the acquired company's labels.

After the partnership with Heineken, commercial distribution of Better Drinks brands, which considers channels and points of sale, jumped from 10,000 in 2024 to more than 60,000 in 2025, according to Heineken.

In a 2023 sustainability report, Better Drinks said it emerged from the meeting of people who "procuravam atuar de forma mais consciente e criativa." "Oferecer um portfólio de bebidas inteligente, diverso e alinhado ao que o mundo contemporâneo demanda" is one way to reach that goal, the report adds.

Heineken Brasil's global revenue was 34.2 billion euros in 2025, equivalent to R$ 200 billion. In September, the group published a revision of its voluntary sustainability targets, promising to cut water use in beverage manufacturing by 10.3% by 2030 compared with the previous goal.

## Antitrust Review Ahead for the Purchase

The completion of the deal depends on approval from competition authorities, Heineken said. The company did not state a expected closing date for the transaction.
