- DevRev's engineering team has moved fully to Codex and dropped its Cursor licenses, according to CTO Ahmed Bashir.
- DevRev's next ambition is for Operator to take on longer, more demanding requests while keeping actions traceable, permissioned and reversible.

[DevRev](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/0000gz4/devrev) has combined [OpenAI](https://akta.pro/company-profiles/0000008/openai)'s GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra with its Computer and Operator agents to carry customer and employee requests through to completion, the company said in an [OpenAI](https://openai.com/index/devrev-enterprise-self-service) post. DevRev's chief technology officer, Ahmed Bashir, said the agents reason across live data, that their actions are reversible and that answers point back to their sources.

## How DevRev's Computer and Operator Agents Work

DevRev built Computer and Operator for service and operations teams. OpenAI models power the reasoning, planning and tool selection behind both agents, and DevRev supplies the harness that connects company knowledge and gives teams control over the actions an agent can take. In DevRev's Agent Studio, users describe how a tool should behave in a conversation with AI and define parts of its behavior with fixed rules.

DevRev tests the models alongside the software that supplies company context, enforces permissions and controls actions. Its Enterprise-Bench benchmark evaluates how well they work when data has multiple versions, information sits in different systems and access depends on a person's role. Bashir said GPT-6.1 Sol performs well in those evaluations. "It's a combination of being able to have the right reasoning capabilities, being able to be trusted, highly aligned, and most importantly, it has to work from a latency perspective," Bashir said.

Inside DevRev, Bashir said the entire engineering team uses Codex. Adoption grew organically after engineers explored multiple coding tools, and by the time of the interview DevRev had moved fully to Codex and dropped its Cursor licenses. "Developers are really just looking for the best tool, and you can't fool them," Bashir said. Sales engineers also use GPT-6 Astra to create demos for the company's booths at international conferences.

## DevRev's Funding and Customer Base

DevRev reached unicorn status after a Series A round in 2024, according to akta.pro [company records](https://akta.pro/company-data), and its total funding stands at $150.8 million. The Series A, dated August 2024, was $100.8 million and was led by Khosla Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Param Hansa Values. The company's earlier seed round, in July 2021, was $50 million. DevRev says it is trusted by more than a thousand customers, including SaaS firms and financial institutions.

## Voice AI and Marketplace Moves Before the Launch

DevRev launched Voice AI across its Customer Agent platform in July 2026, extending its shared organizational memory system into live customer support calls, MarTech Series reported. In October 2026, DevRev joined the OpenAI Marketplace as a launch partner, allowing eligible enterprise customers to apply part of their existing OpenAI commitment to DevRev products, Channellife reported.

## Operator's Next Step

DevRev's next ambition is for Operator to take on longer, more demanding customer and employee requests while keeping actions traceable, permissioned and reversible. Bashir said requests have to run and complete themselves in seconds, not minutes, and that DevRev wants to realize the promise of self-service.
