Tata Steel raised prices of hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils and thermo-mechanically treated bars by Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 per tonne, effective November 3, 2026, NDTV Profit said, citing channel checks. JSW Steel and SAIL announced increases in the same round.

Tata Steel's Product-Wise Increases

Tata Steel is one of the world's ten largest steel producers, with more than 35 million tonnes per annum of integrated capacity across India, Europe and South East Asia, supplying flat, long and branded steel to automotive, construction, energy and packaging customers.

The company's increases cover three product lines: hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils and TMT bars, at Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 per tonne depending on the segment. JSW Steel raised prices across hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils, galvanised pipe, pre-painted galvanised iron and wear-resistant steel, with increases of Rs 600 to Rs 1,350 per tonne. SAIL announced a uniform Rs 600 per tonne hike across flat steel products, including PET products, cold-rolled coils, hot-rolled coils, coated steel and plate mill plates.

The November round follows increases of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,700 per tonne in October, which NDTV Profit described as the third consecutive monthly increase, supported by resilient demand and higher input costs. Nomura retained Buy ratings on Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel, citing domestic makers' ability to absorb raw material cost inflation, Business News Today reported.

What Drove The November Round

NDTV Profit attributed the increases to higher costs of key raw materials and transportation, along with higher domestic fuel and power costs. Data from BigMint, an online market intelligence platform, showed hot-rolled coil prices at Rs 64,700 per tonne, up from Rs 62,000 in September.

Domestic steel demand remains resilient, supported by government-led infrastructure spending and urban real estate activity, according to NDTV Profit. India's steel consumption is projected to grow by nearly 7.9%. Higher prices could lead to short-term volume deferrals in price-sensitive retail segments, while demand from institutional buyers and infrastructure projects has remained relatively firm.

Tata Steel's Capacity And Sales Base

According to akta.pro company records, Tata Steel's Indian operations have capacity of nearly 21.6 million tonnes per annum and its European operations 12 million tonnes per annum. The company recorded domestic crude steel production of 23.48 million tonnes in FY26, with India operations generating Rs 34,272 crore of EBITDA at a 24% margin, and India steel sales of 22.53 million tonnes in FY26.

Earlier Moves At Tata Steel

Tata Steel set November 3, 2026 as the effective date for its amalgamation with subsidiary Rujuvalika Investments Limited, after NCLT approval on October 1, 2026, ScanX reported. JSW Steel produced 29.25 million tonnes of crude steel in India in FY26, ahead of Tata Steel's 23.48 million tonnes, and led in Q2 FY27 with 7.07 million tonnes versus Tata's 6.21 million, Business Outreach reported.

Tata Steel's November 7 Board Meeting
